A St. Louis, Missouri native who was inspired to go into cancer research after losing her aunt and uncle to the disease, Dr. Hadiyah-Nicole Green is now a trailblazer in the field. As the founder of Ora Lee Cancer Research Foundation, a nonprofit named after her late aunt, Ora Lee, Dr. Green is best known for developing a cancer treatment that uses lasers and nanotechnology to eliminate cancer cells. Her efforts in cancer research have been highlighted in the discussion around the racial bias in the U.S. healthcare system, a system under which Black Americans have the highest death rate and shortest survival of any racial or ethnic group for most cancers.
