Here are five standout moments from this year’s event, which took place November 28 through December 2 in
Las Vegas.
Your Data Is Worthless
If You Can’t Use It
Mai-Lan Tomsen Bukovec, vice-president of foundational data services at AWS, took the stage with AWS distinguished engineer Andy Warfield to chat about storage innovations and how customers are making use of large-scale data lakes and high-performance data.
“I have worked in AWS for 12 years, and I couldn’t think of a more exciting time for a data-driven business,” said Bukovec,
a former Microsoft team leader and U.S. Peace Corps volunteer. “IDC forecasts that just in 2022, the amount of data created and replicated all over the world is 101 zettabytes.” A zettabyte is 1 trillion gigabytes, she explained.
“The data is coming from an incredible variety of sources, ranging from applications to phones to cars, and it powers the applications that we build in every industry all over the world. I think of it as the new normal,” she said.
Business leaders need trustworthy services that can also help them use data with speed, scale
and agility.
