Have your watch serviced by the manufacturer or by a watchmaker endorsed by the brand. Experts recommend doing this every three to five years. Specify what work you’ll permit on the piece, such as polishing or replacing worn parts.
Know your watch’s limits. Many watches, particularly older ones, react badly to extreme temperatures, humidity, steam and other environmental influences.
Make sure you keep and preserve any original packaging that came with the watch.
