ou might imagine that Maserati’s design team is constantly thinking about speed, performance, angles and textures. Klaus Busse, head of Maserati design, will tell you the creative process for designing luxury
sports cars is powered by another fascination entirely: people.
“You have to be passionate about people,” says Busse. Design is a team sport, he says, where you work with people, for people, predicting their reactions and studying their everyday needs and tastes.
Busse’s latest challenge? Harnessing this philosophy to create what he calls the “perfect car,” an Italian sculpture on wheels.
