How has global travel enriched your business?
I do a lot of charity work around water, and it’s part of my agency’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) program. There are these communities we support all around Uganda where they have to walk four kilometers to collect water. Last year they took me on that walk. It was so hot—they didn’t have shoes on. We walked for what felt like forever, and I didn’t even have to carry the water on my back. I was shocked. So now we’ve built an even larger CSR program for Uganda. Just opening up a tap and grabbing some water—that is a luxury. We have 2 billion people around the world that don't have that luxury.

What role can artificial intelligence play in travel planning?
Generative AI will play a huge role in travel for people who use it effectively. It can be incredibly helpful beyond a simple web search. Before we came here for a holiday in Sicily, I asked AI to make an itinerary for us. And today we’re doing a tour around the caves of Taormina. We’re doing it at four o’clock. That was a suggestion from AI, which factored in that I have a 5-year-old child. It said we should do it in the early morning or later afternoon to avoid the heat. Now I have it as an app on my phone, so I can ask it, say, for top-five suggestions for dinner locations suitable for a 5-year-old child. When you travel, there are a lot of places that don’t accommodate children.
How do you balance business and pleasure
when traveling?
It’s tough because I also have a family. When we’re on a trip together, I give them a heads-up, “I have a call at 10 o’clock,” and they know I won’t be with them. Even my 5-year-old daughter now is, “Yep, mom’s going to be on a call.” The best advice I got on this was from a billionaire business owner. He said, “Whatever you’re doing, do it 100%.” When I’m with you, when I’m in a meeting, I put my phone to the side, turn off all notifications, so I can give them 100% of my time. Then later I can give my family 100% of my time.
