With 250,000 employees across more than 66 countries, Bangalore-based Wipro Limited is a leading technology services and consulting company. It is one of the world’s largest providers of cloud computing, cyber security, AI, robotics and data analytics. Its clients enjoy world-class IT services.
Until recently, Wipro’s internal IT environment consisted mostly of tools that had been developed in-house and then repeatedly customized over many years. This created significant application sprawl and a complex experience for employees.
Wipro began exploring how digital transformation could improve the employee experience. Leaders asked: “How do we make sure that our colleagues are healthy and doing well, and still maintaining a healthy work-life balance especially at a time when we are encouraging a hybrid work model?” recalls Satvinder Madhok, Vice President & Head of Technology Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, Governance, Risk, Controls and Compliance, Wipro Limited. “How do we start to digitize this whole experience [so employees can] better manage their personal and professional affairs?”
In 2020, Wipro decided to adopt a unified, cloud-based digital workflow platform across the entire enterprise. As a result, Wipro’s leadership is already seeing dramatic improvements in performance, cost savings and workplace morale.
“Employee satisfaction scores are seeing a steady positive improvement,” Madhok says.
Here, we share four steps Wipro followed to improve employee experience and business performance through IT transformation.
