Because the power of female enterprise can transform our global economy and society. That’s why Veuve Clicquot is introducing its Bold Open Database, the world’s first free and open database of women entrepreneurs, which connects female entrepreneurs with investors, journalists, the greater public and each other. “Most women have a common reason why they are leading their business…Of course, they want to make money, [but] the first reason is always to bring something new to the world, to help improve something,” says Carole Bildé, Veuve Clicquot’s CMO and international director of its Bold program. “These visionary women [need] more visibility, because they have a lot to bring to the global story.”
The Bold program celebrates the legacy of one of Europe’s first female entrepreneurs: Barbe Nicole Clicquot Ponsardin, or Madame Clicquot. After taking the reins of Veuve Clicquot in 1772, her innovative leadership not only shaped its future success but also revolutionized champagne production.“We want to continue Madame Clicquot’s story of entrepreneurship by building this culture of determination, amplifying [women’s] voices…and we really want to push boundaries and mix change with impact,” says Bildé.To that end, the Bold Open Database was created to offer a robust global resource for businesses to identify new partnerships, find skilled talent, share information, gain new exposure and align with creative innovation. Currently, about 3,000 entrepreneurs from more than two dozen countries are registered—which Bildé says is just the beginning.
“Visibility is the starting point of everything…I’ve never met a woman entrepreneur who feels she needs to be ‘empowered,’—they are empowered. What they need is to be trusted without bias…they need to be seen.”
