THE
ENVIRONMENTAL DILEMMA
The CFM56 engine is the largest engine population in history with over 22,000 engines in service accounting for over 20% of commercial jet engines in the world. On an annual basis CFM56 engine maintenance alone costs ~$10 billion and burdens the environment by emitting 75,000 tons of CO2 and consuming 3,500 tons of material. This is equivalent to the carbon footprint of 5,884 flights around the world and the material required to build 28.5 statues of liberty.
Jet engine maintenance has a significant monetary and environmental cost.
Maximizing the life of our engine assets
We intend to always consume used material and minimize our carbon footprint whenever reasonably possible.
We commit to donating on average 1% of annual sales generated through our USM business towards the purchase of carbon offsets for the benefit of our customers.
