At PSA Singapore, through which one in every seven global transshipment containers passes, design plays a critical role in optimizing flow. “We keep global trade flowing efficiently and reliably between the East and the West,” says Tan Liang Hui, vice president, PSA Singapore. As one of the world’s busiest maritime hubs with more than 600 port connections across 120 countries, the design is embedded in operations as well as in systems that manage scale, efficiency, and global reach.
Over at Singapore Changi Airport, which is consistently ranked among the best airports in the world, design is just as strategic. “Through design, we’re improving efficiency and creating greater capacity to keep growing,” explains Jayson Goh, executive vice president of airport management, Changi Airport Group. Every detail, from intelligent passenger flow to nature-inspired architecture is meticulously curated to enhance the airport’s experience and sustainability.
Meanwhile, DesignSingapore Council is nurturing this transformation at a national level, providing the infrastructure to turn ideas into action. Through innovation hubs, startup support, and cross-sector partnerships, Singapore offers one of the world’s most supportive ecosystems for design-led innovation.
