What are the 3 F's?
The 3 F's are the best way to determine the quality of bed linens. Many believe that thread count is the only number that matters when considering the best fabric for bed sheets. Other important factors to consider are the weave of the fibre, the finish of the material, and the way the fabric feels on your skin.
When choosing the best sheets to buy, first consider the fibre used to weave those linens. Cotton quality depends on fibre length - longer fibres make a more uniform, resistant and smoother thread.
Thread count measures threads per square inch and produces various results of texture and breathability. The higher the thread count, the less air flow; thus, sateens sleep warmer than percales.

Next, consider the finish of the fabric. The hand, or silkiness, of a fabric is not a result of thread count, but rather the finishing process - a treatment to the woven fabric to increase durability or shine. Frette fabrics go through
a patented finishing process to create the super smooth and lustrous finish unlike any other.
Additional finishing touches may include embroidery, lace, and other embellishments.

Our poplin is woven
from an uncommonly
fine 100 thread, making
it feather-light, smooth,
and a beautiful balance between percale
and sateen.
Originally created for
the Pope, poplin is
a light but densely woven mercerised cotton with
a fine weft and an even
finer warp.
Our crisp and coolest cotton, percale is created with a close, simple weave of one thread over and one thread under. The finer the thread, the lighter and softer the fabric.
Longer cotton fibres
make a more uniform, resistant and smoother thread, and we choose
the longest, thinnest
and strongest cotton threads to produce
the optimum finish.
Sateen is a soft,
lustrous cotton fabric
with a loose interlacing weave in a fine, dense thread, creating a silky feel and a higher shine.
Like our jacquard fabrics,
our delicate lace is
hand-drawn and crafted exclusively for Frette
by artisans in Italy
who supply the world's most prestigious
couture houses.
Since Edmond Frette's acquisition of this technology in 1800,
we have been globally renowned for our beautifully complex jacquard designs that sometimes incorporate other fibres like silk.
A jacquard's intricate
pattern is created as it
is woven - thanks to Joseph Marie Jacquard's invention that uses patterns of
holes in cards to control
a loom's weave.
