Look at Chris’ Day

Without AIOps
Okay, I think we got everything figured out. I was supposed to work on a new initiative for my DevOps partners so they can become more agile, but once again I spent my day putting out fires. I’m sure tomorrow will be better—right?
Another conference call and we’re no closer to resolving this. I have my whole team working to uncover the root cause of the issue. It’s a painstakingly manual process, which has taken them away from other important work.
Dang it, why is it so hard to analyze all our data? I feel like we have to log into a million different tools to piece together the information we need. This is taking forever.
Oh great, now two more events have just popped up. How come we didn’t catch this earlier? There’s always too much noise in the system for us to ever be able to identify anomalies until it’s too late. I wish we could be more proactive instead of reactive.
We’re struggling with the visibility it takes to identify an issue easily because we have so many monitoring tools that aren’t integrated with each other. We’re going to be here a while.
I just spent an hour on a conference call with the entire team so we can figure it out.

I’ve got a full list of things I need to do today. Oh no, I just got an alert. Our website can’t process orders or accept payments, and I have no idea why.

Productive day! Think I’ll go hit the gym.

Thanks to my AIOps platform, I was able to spend my day working on a new infrastructure initiative that will help my DevOps team improve its ability to innovate. Looking at the dashboard, I can see a few issues we should sort out before they impact service. I’ll add those to my list for tomorrow.

I used to have to collect so much data manually. But now, my AIOps platform does that automatically plus it has open integrations that make it simple to ingest events and topologies from my other monitoring tools, so I have much greater visibility and coverage across the entire environment.

Our IT environment has never been larger or more complex. Luckily, I’m able to use intelligent event correlation to group events, and apply rules and policies that reduce event noise, gain visibility, and improve MTTR. The system found a few events. But my team was able to use intelligent automation to quickly take corrective action with minimal effort.

Thanks to our AIOps platform, we were able to ensure that the payments processing system was still available while feeling confident that no other systems were negatively affected. Our service-centric monitoring gives me a complete view of all our key services. Heat map visualizations make it easy to get the big picture while also letting me drill down into the details.

We just spent the last hour taking proactive corrective action and communicating with the rest of the business so they are informed about the changes being made and that our services should not be interrupted.
7:35

The web team just made a change to our site, but my AIOps platform detected an anomaly that could be impacting payment processing. Glad I was notified of the problem early. Finding the root cause would normally take forever, but intelligent probable-cause analysis will help me quickly find the root cause so I can take corrective action immediately. I’m sure we’ll get it fixed. This could have been a disaster!

Discover the Benefits of AIOps

How Does AIOps Impact DevOps?
The agility, speed, and scalability required by DevOps means that the IT Ops team needs to leverage AI, machine learning, and automation to meet the increasingly complex needs of building and deploying new initiatives and technologies.
By taking a proactive approach to operations management, you can automatically discover and fix issues quickly—often before service impact. This allows the development team to continue to focus on driving innovation instead of driving development to a halt to fix problems in production. Fixes and other performance data can be fed back to the development team to help improve future iterations.
