A Luxurious Island Getaway:
Without exaggeration, Amangiri (and its satellite, Camp Sarika) is the nicest luxury resort we’ve ever been to in the United States. From gorgeous views to delicious sunset dining, this one-of-a-kind desert resort in Utah really does offer it all. Here’s why Amangiri is an absolute must-visit.

Who should you bring?
Amangiri is ideal for couples looking for a serene getaway, friends seeking adventure or anyone who loves high-end desert design. It was surprisingly family-friendly and 100% works with kids, but we would sooner recommend doing the trip as adults-only. Our visit at the end of March into early April 2026 was all about quiet mornings, stunning views and outdoor exploration. The property feels tucked away (like a fortress blending into the desert colors), yet incredibly luxurious, offering privacy while keeping you connected to the scenery.
What’s the food like?
Dining highlights fresh, local ingredients. Breakfast is great with eggs, smoothies, juices and one of the best pancakes we’ve ever had, while lunches and dinners are creative without being too formal. The Italian Tasting Menu at Camp Sarika was a highlight. We particularly enjoyed roasted vegetables, house-made pastas and fresh fish dishes. Eating outdoors at sunset, with the desert as your backdrop, made every meal feel special.
Did you get a good night’s sleep?
Yes. Beds are plush with crisp linens, blackout curtains ensure uninterrupted rest and rooms are exceptionally quiet. Bathrooms feel like mini-spas, and every detail contributes to a calm, restful stay. We stayed at Camp Sarika in a 2-Bedroom Tented Pavillion which was constructed like a tent (glamping), but several levels above that given it was truly a 2-BR hotel suite disguised as a tent, which we loved.
What amenities are available?
The spa provides a peaceful desert escape with massages and wellness treatments. The outdoor pool and hot tubs sit amid striking rock formations, perfect for relaxing in the sun. There’s a small fitness center, and the concierge can arrange guided hikes, scenic drives or helicopter tours. Rooms include luxury bath products, plush robes and select villas have private patios or plunge pools for extra seclusion.
The surrounding desert is a playground for exploration. Guided hikes, slot canyon adventures and nearby Lake Powell let you balance activity with downtime. The 3 Slot Canyon Tour is a must. The boating experience on Lake Powell is supposedly top notch but we got rained out and called an audible to go sight-seeing in Page, AZ instead. Sunrise walks are breathtaking, and afternoons by the pool or spa are the perfect way to unwind. The resort’s guided experiences make it easy to access some of the most scenic spots in the region. We loved the mini self-guided hikes on property to the caves.
How was the service?
Staff are professional and approachable, helping with everything from excursions to photo recommendations. They anticipate needs without being intrusive, making the stay feel effortless and personal.
What was your favorite part?
The views. From sunrise over the canyons to quiet evenings on the patio, the landscape never gets old. Amangiri’s architecture and design make it easy to slow down and fully enjoy the desert. It felt like we were not in the U.S. and more like in Star Wars or on Mars. It was a truly surreal setting and one that we will never forget.
Know before you go:
Amangiri is very remote, so plan plenty of time to get there and enjoy the drive. The easiest route is flying to Phoenix and then flying Contour Airlines to Page, AZ. Alternatively, you can fly into St George, Utah, or Las Vegas and drive from there. Book guided hikes, helicopter tours or other excursions early since spots fill quickly. Sunrise and sunset in the desert are breathtaking, so schedule time to watch them. Bring binoculars if you enjoy wildlife, and make sure to explore the resort itself, where the architecture blends beautifully with the natural surroundings.
