Who should you bring?
Black Desert Resort is ideal for couples seeking a quiet desert getaway, friends looking for adventure or anyone who loves luxury with a view. It’s especially good for golfers and pickleball lovers. Our stay at the end of March focused on relaxing and taking in the scenery. The resort offers easy access to hiking trails, scenic drives and outdoor activities while still feeling like your own private retreat. Modern, calm and full of character, it’s a great spot to recharge.
What’s the food like?
Dining here highlights fresh, bold flavors inspired by the region. Breakfast sets you up for a day outdoors, while dinner is elevated without being stuffy. Outdoor seating lets you soak in canyon views, especially at sunset. Our favorites included the house-made flatbreads, roasted vegetables and regional dishes bursting with flavor and local ingredients.
Did you get a good night’s sleep?
Absolutely. Beds are soft and comfortable, linens are crisp and blackout shades make sleeping easy. Rooms are peaceful and quiet, perfect for waking up to a desert sunrise. Bathrooms are spa-like, spacious and thoughtfully designed, adding a touch of luxury to every morning.
What amenities are available?
The spa is serene, offering treatments that leave you refreshed and relaxed. The outdoor pool and hot tubs are framed by stunning red rock views, ideal for unwinding in the afternoon. There’s a small fitness center, and the concierge can help plan everything from hikes to scenic drives. Rooms include plush robes and luxury bath products, with some villas offering private patios or plunge pools for extra privacy.
There’s also plenty to do beyond the resort. Hiking trails, off-road adventures and a short drive to Zion National Park make it easy to mix activity with downtime. We loved early morning walks to catch the sunrise, then returning to the pool or spa to relax. Nearby Ivins has charming boutiques and artisan shops worth exploring if you want a touch of desert-inspired shopping.
How was the service?
The staff is professional, friendly and genuinely helpful without hovering. Check-in and check-out were smooth, and the concierge made arranging spa treatments, excursions and local trips effortless. Room service was not available yet but should be in the future.
What was your favorite part?
The views. Waking up to red rock canyons and watching the light shift throughout the day is absolutely magical. Sitting on our patio or by the pool in the afternoon, taking in the colors and quiet, was the perfect way to recharge.
Know before you go:
Temperatures fluctuate in the desert, so pack layers. Book spa treatments and guided excursions in advance. A car is essential for exploring, and don’t forget your camera—the scenery is unforgettable. The resort’s remote location makes it perfect for disconnecting and enjoying the natural beauty.
