Who should you bring?
The Grand Hotel Victoria, while undeniably luxurious, is a haven for all types of travelers, including families. This elegant property offers interconnecting rooms, a nice perk for group or family travel. While I love myself some luxury, I was so impressed by how the hotel goes above and beyond to cater to younger guests, with thoughtful touches like complimentary cots, a specially curated children’s menu at the restaurant, and even mini robes and slippers. Beyond the accommodations, the heated outdoor and indoor pools provide plenty of entertainment for families, while the serene lakeside setting offers a peaceful retreat for those looking to relax. Whether you're planning a family getaway or a romantic escape, this hotel seamlessly combines sophistication with family-friendly amenities.
What’s the food like?
The dining experience at the Grand Hotel Victoria was nothing short of exceptional. Though fine-dining gourmands will find their way to the seven-course menu at Restaurant 1827, we spent most of our time at Lago, where we enjoyed both breakfast and dinner. The complimentary breakfast buffet was a standout—an exquisite spread with something for every palate. From the perfectly flaky chocolate croissants (which I still can’t stop thinking about) to the savory options, each dish was beautifully presented and fresh. Dinner at Lago was equally memorable, with every plate as much a feast for the eyes as the taste buds. Standouts included the homemade ravioli filled with buffalo ricotta and lemon, the decadent Parmigiana-style aubergines, and an off-menu treat—spaghetti vongole. The service was impeccable, and dining while overlooking Lake Como made the experience truly world-class.
Did you get a good night’s sleep?
Our room was spacious with two bathrooms and a large comfy bed. The comfortable and quiet surroundings, along with black-out curtains provided the perfect environment for a good night’s rest.
What amenities are available?
whirlpools, in addition to a range of treatment options available). Gym buffs will enjoy the 24/7 fitness enter, as well as the many wellness activities on offer such as hiking along the bluff, cycling classes outside, meditation, beach yoga and more. Speaking of the beach, the Monarch Bay Beach Club is exclusively available to members and guests and has everything you need to surf the waves, paddle board, SUP and more. Or hey, if you’d just like to kick back on a beach chair with a glass of wine, then that’s cool too.
The amenities at the Grand Hotel Victoria are nothing short of extraordinary, designed to cater to both relaxation and wellness. The outdoor pool is a serene escape, complete with comfortable lounges and day beds, available at no additional charge—a perfect spot to unwind while soaking in views of Lake Como. Fitness enthusiasts will appreciate the state-of-the-art gym, equipped with the latest technology and modern equipment. However, the true highlight is the Erre spa, a 13,000-square-foot sanctuary that is included in the room rate. Even without booking a treatment, there’s plenty to explore. The spa's design is both luxurious and inviting, featuring indoor pools with powerful jacuzzi jets, hot tubs, steam rooms (both wet and dry), a Himalayan salt room, and tranquil quiet spaces.
How was the service?
The service throughout the hotel really stood out. The staff was attentive without being overbearing. They were always there to help from valet parking to reception to dining experiences. The housekeeping and turn-down services were exceptional as well. We really enjoyed coming back to our room for our nightly sweet treat.
What was your favorite part?
One of my favorite aspects of the Grand Hotel Victoria was its unbeatable location. Just a short two-minute walk from the hotel, you find yourself in Menaggio’s charming main piazza, a place where you can experience authentic life on Lake Como, away from the heavier tourist crowds. The hotel’s proximity to the ferry dock made exploring the lake’s mid-lake towns—like Bellagio and Varenna—effortless, whether by ferry or private boat. But the real highlight? The peaceful and tranquil Erre spa, which felt like an adult playground for relaxation. After a day spent strolling through town or indulging in some retail therapy, unwinding at the spa was the perfect escape. And of course, sipping Prosecco on the hotel’s beautiful front lawn, gazing out at the lake, was a quintessentially Como experience.

Two shimmering outdoor pools offer opportunities for relaxation and activity—one is a heated infinity pool with a view of Lake Garda while the other is a stand-alone pool kept at cooler temperatures to encourage laps and other exercise.

Top-notch: The service was beyond what you’d expect from a five-star hotel. From the around-the-clock concierge that can help you book those hard-to-get reservations and private tours to 24-hour laundry/drycleaning and in-room dining, the Four Seasons is known ‘round the world for their attention to detail. Expect twice-daily housekeeping, free water in-room and nightly turndown service (complete with slippers and a mat to wipe your feet placed next to the bed).
