An Adults-Only Luxury Getaway at Castle Hot Springs, Arizona
Located on the top floors of a 39-story high rise in the nation’s capital, guests at the Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Otemachi are treated to panoramic views of the city including the lush Imperial Gardens below and a snow-capped Mount Fuji in the distance. As one of the newer luxury hotels in Tokyo, there’s a lot of buzz surrounding the brand’s second outpost in the city (the Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Marunouchi has been drawing in travelers with refined tastes for years). But does it live up to the hype? Here’s our review.

Who should you bring?
Located in one of the city’s largest financial districts, Chiyoda, a stay here is an obvious choice for business travelers. But it’s also situated by the Imperial Palace grounds and boasts incredible views of the capital, not to mention that the grid-like streets below are easy to navigate, making it an equally good option for first-timers. Of course, with the usual luxury touches that a Four Seasons property promises (such as a top-notch spa and impeccable service), couples would happily check-in here for a few days as well.
What’s the food like?
You’re in Tokyo so you should absolutely leave your hotel and explore the city’s many culinary delights. However, for those occasions where you’d prefer to dine in (and eat something more European-leaning) you’ve got options. The hotel has four on-site restaurants and bars, all located on the 39th floor with those incredible views. EST is a Michelin-starred contemporary Japanese restaurant featuring an exquisite tasting menu; Pigneto is a tasty Italian restaurant offering mouthwatering pasta and pizza; VIRTÙ has classic and unique cocktails and bar snacks (try the salmon tacos with yuzu pepper); and The Lounge offers afternoon tea, which is popular with guests and non-guests alike.
Did you get a good night’s sleep?
Did we mention that the hotel is located on the top six floors of a 39-story tower? Meaning the rooms here are a peaceful retreat from the busy streets below. And unusually for a city hotel, the rooms are very spacious with bathrooms worth writing home about (each one has a beautiful marble large soaking tub looking over the city and, of course, a smart toilet—it was invented here, after all. All of which to say, rooms are exceedingly comfortable and quiet, so a good night’s sleep is all but guaranteed.
What amenities are available?
whirlpools, in addition to a range of treatment options available). Gym buffs will enjoy the 24/7 fitness enter, as well as the many wellness activities on offer such as hiking along the bluff, cycling classes outside, meditation, beach yoga and more. Speaking of the beach, the Monarch Bay Beach Club is exclusively available to members and guests and has everything you need to surf the waves, paddle board, SUP and more. Or hey, if you’d just like to kick back on a beach chair with a glass of wine, then that’s cool too.
There is a wonderful spa, a fitness center, the four aforementioned restaurants, a lap pool, a steam room and a Japanese steam bath. We were especially impressed with the fitness center and pool that overlooks the city of Tokyo with 360-degree sprawling views. Top tip: Head to the pool at dusk so you can see the capital light up while taking a dip.
How was the service?
From the moment you arrive you are greeted by the enthusiastic, attentive and knowledgeable staff-many who live on property in nearby housing since you are basically in the middle of nowhere. The wait staff knows every guest’s allergies and food preferences (no mushrooms or peppers for me, please). The instructors were experts in their fields and very receptive to questions.
What was your favorite part?
Not to keep hammering on about this, but the views from the hotel really are breathtaking. Beyond that, we were impressed with the cleanliness of the hotel (and Japan in general). It’s something you hear about before you go but it is truly noteworthy while you’re there.
