Who should you bring?
If peace and quiet with a manicured view is on your travel bucket list, then this is the spot for you. Goldwynn manages to strike that perfect balance between luxurious pampering, serene relaxation and ultimate convenience, thanks to the upscale amenities, secluded surroundings away from the crowds and convenient location. This makes it a great option for couples or small families.
What’s the food like?
The only full service restaurant is Oia, which specializes in Mediterranean Asian fusion cuisine.
The dishes here are tasty and well prepared (we especially enjoyed the zucchini tempura with dill dipping oil and the king crab fried rice), but it's worth noting the kitchen is not flexible when it comes to requests to modify the menu. There’s also Bar Paul for cocktails and Amara, an open-air eatery with light bites and cocktails for pool and beach guests. For a quick bite, head to Atria, a coffee bar in the lobby that has pastries, smoothies and other grab-and-go items.
Did you get a good night’s sleep?
Lush comforters, Rivolta Carmignani linens and black out shades ensured a great night’s sleep for all.
What amenities are available?
whirlpools, in addition to a range of treatment options available). Gym buffs will enjoy the 24/7 fitness enter, as well as the many wellness activities on offer such as hiking along the bluff, cycling classes outside, meditation, beach yoga and more. Speaking of the beach, the Monarch Bay Beach Club is exclusively available to members and guests and has everything you need to surf the waves, paddle board, SUP and more. Or hey, if you’d just like to kick back on a beach chair with a glass of wine, then that’s cool too.
There is a spa offering the usual treatments and services, as well as a 24-hour fitness center and the aforementioned eateries. But the true stars of the resort are the oceanfront infinity pool and the private soft sand beach. Take a dip at sunset to see the shimmering waters reflect the kaleidoscopic skies. If you can swing it, it’s worth reserving one of the six oceanfront cabanas featuring plush seating, games, television and your very own butler. For families, the selection of non-motorized water sports on offer are a big hit (think snorkeling, paddle boards, kayaks and oversized floats). There is also a volleyball set up on the beach.
How was the service?
Every employee was exceptionally friendly and helpful, with someone always available to greet us and assist with any need. The staff at the pool and the beach were particularly accommodating, assisting with chairs, cabanas, food and water activities for the kids—they even got involved in a beach volleyball game!
What was your favorite part?
You can’t beat being just a few feet from the ocean—the convenience of walking out straight onto the private beach (especially with kids) was incredible. The beach was quiet and we were always able to get chairs. Another bonus is the surprisingly spacious rooms and the fully equipped kitchen—having breakfast on the balcony overlooking the ocean is a great way to start the day.
Know before you go:
It’s super convenient to get to the resort from the airport as it’s only a 15-minute drive away.
Since each room has its own kitchenette or kitchen, it’s worth stocking up on some groceries for breakfast or snacks—there is a local grocery delivery service that the resort will connect you with. Finally, for families, it’s worth knowing that there are no accommodations with double beds or interconnecting doors.
