There’s a Ritz Kids program with cultural and adventure activities, spacious family accommodations with connecting rooms and child-friendly amenities (cribs, high chairs, etc.), and special children’s menus in all restaurants. The hotel offers multiple dining options, which is great, because it means there is something for everyone—kaiseki, tempura, sushi, teppanyaki and even an Italian restaurant and a renowned Parisian patisserie—picky eaters will have a hard time saying no. Still, the crown jewels The Chef’s Table from Chef Katsuhito Inoue. Set in a private room designed to mimic a forest, complete with nature sounds, the immersive dining experience is unlike any we’ve experienced (or tasted) before. Highlights from our meal include the Matsusaka beef, which melts in your mouth, crab spaghetti, homemade focaccia with ricotta, corn risotto, and an unforgettable uni dish. This experience is a must for any foodie who loves a unique tasting menu.
Did you get a good night’s sleep?
Absolutely. The beds and pillows are incredibly comfortable, and the spacious rooms and thoughtful design ensure a restful night. We stayed in a room with a view of the Kamogawa River, which we highly recommend. The large bathtub and smart toilet with a warmed seat added to the luxurious experience.

Exceptional. The staff truly embodies the Ritz-Carlton’s 5-star service mantra. From the concierge to in-room dining and the cleaning staff, everyone goes above and beyond to ensure your stay is perfect.

Know before you go:
Kyoto is about a two-hour bullet train ride from Tokyo. If you’re ending your trip here, consider flying home from Osaka instead of returning to Tokyo since it’s only a 45-minute train ride. And be sure to book the Tempura experience and Chef’s Table well in advance. As for Kyoto, don’t miss the incredible shrines, temples, bamboo forests, and iconic scenery. We took a rickshaw ride that took us to the city’s best spots, and we highly recommended it. The Ritz, of course, can book one for you.
