I'll be the first to admit that I am perpetually stuck in the '90s. It was the decade that gave me Saturday morning cartoons, bubblegum pop and way too many denim overalls. But more importantly, it introduced me to timeless, groundbreaking Black sitcoms that shaped who I am today. Iconic characters like Aunt Vivian taught me the value of integrity and respect, while whiz-kids like Dwayne Wayne and TJ Henderson taught me that intelligence is actually really cool. I’m inspired to give credit where credit is due by shining the spotlight on characters and classics that not only defined my childhood, but progressed the cultural conversation. From in-depth interviews with my favorite '90s actors to a deep dive into the Golden Age of Black sitcoms, here's to celebrating all the beloved BIPOC classics that changed the landscape of TV.
