A Luxurious Island Getaway:
Looking for an exclusive, private experience in the Florida Keys that makes relaxation easier than ever? Search no further than the Mar-Key Islamorada oceanfront estate, which features multiple residences, a plethora of amenities and endless waterfront views. Here, why Mar-Key Islamorada is the perfect, must-visit Keys destination.

Who should you bring?
Mar-Key is best for large families, multiple couples, corporate retreats or friend groups looking for a private Keys experience with more space and flexibility than a traditional resort. The setup feels much more residential and secluded, which changes the pace of the trip right away.
This is especially ideal if you enjoy being outside. Between the dock, outdoor lounge areas, walk-in pool, pickleball court and easy water access, most of the trip naturally happens outdoors. We stayed in May 2026 and loved how tucked away everything felt once you passed through the gates. The property has that classic Islamorada boating culture and Old Florida feel, but in a more elevated and well-designed setting.
What’s the food like?
Since Mar-Key operates more like a luxury estate stay than a traditional full-service resort, food becomes part of the fun of the trip. One of the best parts of staying here is having the flexibility to cook, order in or go out depending on the mood.
Islamorada dining feels refreshingly unpretentious compared to larger South Florida destinations. Fresh fish, tacos, sandwiches and waterfront restaurants are really what this area does best. If you want to fully lean into the on-estate experience, adding a private chef for one evening would absolutely be worth it.
Pro Tip: Bad Boy Sushi Burrito is awesome for lunch. F’in Bagels is actually really good for breakfast. Lazy Days is always a classic for dinner (bring the catch you caught during fishing that day!).
Did you get a good night’s sleep?
Absolutely. The property gets incredibly quiet at night, which makes it easy to fully relax after long days outside. The bedrooms felt spacious, cool and comfortable, especially after the heat during the day. Beds were plush without being overly soft, and everything had more of a high-end residential feel than a traditional hotel room. Large bathrooms, open layouts and the sound of the water outside made the entire stay feel calming from start to finish.
What amenities are available?
The real luxury here is the privacy and outdoor setup. The estate feels quiet and spacious, with plenty of room to spread out and fully settle into the slower Islamorada pace. The walk-in pool, hot tub, pickleball court, private dock, paddle boards, kayaks, golf carts and outdoor chickee setup made it easy to spend most of the trip outside.
Inside, everything felt clean, updated and thoughtfully designed without feeling overdone. The indoor-outdoor flow works perfectly for the Keys lifestyle, and the kitchens and common spaces make it especially well-suited for groups or longer stays.
As for activities, Islamorada is all about the water, and Mar-Key puts you right in the middle of it. Fishing charters, boating, sandbars and sunset cruises are really the main event here. The boating culture in Islamorada is a huge part of what makes the area special. Even just cruising around or spending an afternoon on the water feels like the ideal Keys day. There are also plenty of casual waterfront restaurants nearby where you can pull up by boat which adds to the experience.
The Poppa Wahoo Collective is the company to call for an amazing boating/fishing experience.
When we wanted downtime, the property itself was relaxing enough that we didn’t feel pressure to constantly leave. Some afternoons were simply spent by the pool listening to music and watching the water, which honestly ended up being just as enjoyable as the excursions.
How was the service?
Service felt seamless and intentionally low-pressure. Shout-out to David and Christina who are super helpful. Since this operates more like a private estate than a resort, the experience is much more personalized and flexible. There’s privacy when you want it, but plenty of optional add-ons available if you want a more fully staffed experience.
What was your favorite part?
The waterfront setting. There’s something about waking up directly on the water in Islamorada that immediately puts you into vacation mode. Sunsets were beautiful every night, and the combination of boats, palm trees, warm weather and calm water created exactly the relaxed Keys atmosphere we were hoping for.
Know before you go:
A car is definitely helpful for exploring the Upper Keys, and dinner reservations are worth making ahead during busy spring weekends since restaurants fill up faster than you’d think for such a laid-back destination. Grocery delivery before arrival is also a smart move if you want to maximize pool and waterfront time once you get there. If you plan on booking fishing charters, boats or excursions, reserve early.
And most importantly, don’t over-schedule yourself here. Not every trip needs a packed itinerary, and this ended up being one of those vacations where relaxing and enjoying downtime at Mar-Key became the highlight.
