“These are always ‘in’ as they’re a classic, but I see work boots having a bigger moment this year. I think it’s fun to see a work boot worn in a traditional way, but also mixing it up with a more dressed up look.”
Vashtie Kola, better known as Va$htie, is a New York-based DJ, music video director, filmmaker, trendsetter and mom of two—and the first woman to design a Nike Air Jordan sneaker. She’s worked with Justin Bieber, Drake, Kendrick Lamar and Solange Knowles, among others—and has been spinning records and hosting parties for over two decades. All this to say: We trust her explicitly when it comes to what’s hot and what’s not in 2024. Here are her picks.
“This has been a major ‘in’ for so long, but it’s transcending from trend to staple. As a DJ, I always need to have the best tracks ready to play. A constant request is the many influential styles—Afrobeat, amapiano—that derive from Africa.”
“We are all so busy, so a three-in-one product is exactly what I need to save time and money. Think: a shampoo that also clarifies, a reversible jacket, and Burt's Bees Micellar Towelettes with Rose Water—which not only remove makeup but cleanse and hydrate skin.”
“We could all be better at practicing sustainability in our own daily life by making smarter choices about what we consume, including purchasing products that exhibit sustainability—like Burt's Bees Micellar Towelettes made from 70 percent upcycled cotton from T-shirt manufacturing scraps. They’re certified home compostable by TUV Austria* to help close the loop on waste.”
“I don’t think a city, neighborhood or country should be labeled as ‘in,’ but I love the idea of traveling to new places that support black and brown communities. Mexico City has been a major travel topic everywhere I go. I hope the influx of tourists will help support the indigenous people of Mexico.”

“I think after 2023, we’ve seen enough iterations of pink. I’m looking forward to seeing other colors, like bright yellow, trending.”

“Social media had me convinced that I needed 100 steps and complicated products for my beauty routine. But as a mom of two, I need my steps to be quick and easy to do, even if I’m on the move. That’s why I’m swapping for products like Burt’s Bees Micellar Towelettes with Coconut & Lotus, which allow me to take off my makeup in any room or while I’m on-the-go.”
“From the ‘clean girl aesthetic’ to ‘mob wives era,’ I have never seen trend-hopping to this degree. I think if you’re looking to have a truly iconic individual style, it’s about tapping into what’s unique about you. All of the most legendary and stylish people never wavered in their own look.”
“Whether it’s excessive shopping hauls, fast-fashion disposal or eating over-processed foods, I’d like to see us make wiser choices about what we are purchasing, disposing of and ingesting.”
“I’m still surprised that people think a person or object will make them truly happy. Sure, people and things can give you a sense of happiness, but it will always be short-lived. True happiness comes from within, and you can tap into it whenever you want or need. Practicing gratitude is the best way to get there.”

The new year is often the time we put pressure on ourselves to accomplish something big—like finally learning guitar or becoming fluent in Spanish. But why not go back to basics? Relearn a childhood favorite, like rollerblading or acrylic painting.
It can be exhausting (not to mention expensive) to craft the ideal skincare routine for your skin type, age and goals. Instead of using a multitide of products to address individual issues, reach for those that promise to wear many hats, like Burt’s Bees Micellar Towelettes
Whether it’s tackling a healthier meal plan with your S.O., picking a gym buddy to workout with or joining a book club to tackle the nightstand pile, resolutions are proven to be easier when someone else is counting on us.
