From whistle to whistle, an hour of game time elapses during a regulation NFL game, split into 4 15-minute quarters. Halftime lasts just 12 minutes, meaning players (and fans) rarely go very long without seeing action during game time.

From where is the ball snapped on an extra point kick attempt?
Since 2015, extra-point kicks have been placed at the 15 yard line before they are snapped. Before that, the ball originated at the 2 yard line for every post-TD attempt, or “try.” This relatively recent change has made extra points go from automatic to a potential nail-biter!

Which position group wears the numbers 10-19 and 80-89?
Starting in 2004, wide receivers have been able to wear numbers 10-19 in addition to the classic 80s, which they share with tight ends and halfbacks. Superstars like Browns WR Odell Beckham Jr. (#13) and Bengals WR A.J. Green (#18) are firmly in the teen camp, while Titans TE Delanie Walker (#82) and Raiders WR Antonio Brown (#84) prefer a more old-school jersey number.

The ball is blown dead at the spot and the play is over.
If the ball hits an official during play, what is the ruling?
The officials, as long as they are in bounds, are as much a part of the playing field as the numbers painted on the grass! That means a ball that bounces off an official is still in play, but don’t expect Titans QB Marcus Mariota to throw any passes in their direction.

What is the
neutral zone?
The neutral zone is as wide as the length of the ball (11-11.25 inches, to be exact) and runs the entire width of the field from sideline to sideline. If a player is within this area when the ball is snapped, a penalty known as a Neutral Zone Infraction, their team is penalized five yards.
