The Blue Ridge Blankets Project creates beautiful, heirloom-quality blankets using locally-sourced fibers and craftspeople within the Blue Ridge Mountains Fibershed, a 100-mile radius around Asheville, North Carolina. The collective sources fiber from local farms, uses regional heritage dyes, employs local dyers and hand weavers, and spins yarn locally when possible. Each blanket features the Blue Ridge Blend of fine wool, mohair, and alpaca. The project is part of Local Cloth, a nonprofit network of fiber artists, farmers, educators, and enthusiasts dedicated to growing and supporting Western North Carolina’s fiber economy.
