CHEF SERIGNE MBAYE
Born in Harlem, raised in Dakar, Chef Mbaye now calls New Orleans home. The James Beard Award nominee is the head chef of Dakar NOLA, an intimate thirty-seat prix fixe tasting-menu restaurant on Magazine Street that launched in late 2022 and was listed as one
of Bon Appetit’s 2023 Best New Restaurants.
Named 2021 Eater NOLA Chef of the Year, Mbaye introduces diners
to his Senegalese roots through both an array of seasonally changing dishes, such as gulf shrimp in tamarind sauce and thiakry pie with pecans, and storytelling in between courses leaving guests satiated and nurtured.
