Organizations today operate in a fracturing, complex environment. Hybrid work, now permanent for more than 90% of organizations, means fewer in-person touchpoints. Elevated turnover is a lasting legacy of the pandemic era, eroding the depth and length of work relationships. Greater reliance on “always on” digital channels has led to higher rates of fatigue and burnout. More broadly, community polarization echoes in the workplace: 44% of employees actively avoid some coworkers because of their political views. In a world primed to pull people apart, organizations must still bring them together to meet collective goals. Moving forward, great organizations will not just seek to pull their workforces back together to fix what’s broken. They will also recognize fresh opportunities to get employees pulling in new directions, finding greater authenticity, creativity and connection amid fragmentation — and ultimately reaching even higher levels of performance. HR will lead the way in achieving this new model of greatness, sharpening the organization’s competitive edge in the digital economy and harnessing the full potential of a changing workforce.
Pulling Together: How Great Organizations Succeed in a Fragmenting World
Attract, engage and retain a diverse workforce aligned to achieve both the organization’s social purpose and its financial targets. Build social and emotional — not just rational — connection into the employee experience for a fast-changing, distributed workforce. Cultivate both emerging microcultures and broad networks across collaboration platforms to drive innovation and change. Complement analytics with human judgment to make principled business decisions in the face of polarization.

Your Brain Is Good at Inclusion … Except When It’s Not
Dr. Steve Robbins, Chief Curiosity Cultivator
This dynamic and eye-opening keynote provides an innovative, neuroscience-based look at the benefits of creating inclusive workplaces, using the fields of cognitive neuroscience, social-psychology and communication (among others). Dr. Robbins delves into the hard-wired human need to belong — and what happens when that need is not met. HR leaders walk away energized with a clear DEI strategy, the positive impact it will have on their organization, and how it will empower their teams and key stakeholders to view DEI as vital to success, not just an afterthought.
Plugging Into Your Potential
J.R. Martinez, Veteran, Actor, Bestselling Author and Speaker
Disability and Innovation
Author of “Haben: The Deafblind Woman Who Conquered Harvard Law”
True potential can only be realized by believing, trusting and not quitting. In this keynote, J.R. Martinez explores the power of goal-setting, staying motivated and developing the perseverance that will get you to your destination. Each fork in the road is a chance to make a decision that will take you either closer or further from your goal. If you choose correctly, there are endless possibilities. But, while keeping focused on your goal is a good thing, you shouldn’t do it to the point of “getting stuck.” Learn the importance of being open-minded to new opportunities and fluid enough to respond to circumstances that, while unexpected, take you further than you ever thought possible.
Disabled people are the largest historically underrepresented group, numbering more than one billion worldwide. Reaching a group of this scale creates value for everyone. Organizations that prioritize accessibility benefit by gaining access to a much larger audience, improving the experience for both disabled and nondisabled people, and facilitating further innovation. In this engaging presentation, Haben Girma shares how she became an advocate, and what we can do to make our communities more inclusive.
