Poly Chain
The Poly Chain family is built with durable polyurethane designed to resist chemicals, oil, pollutants, and abrasion. Carbon tensile cord reinforcement minimizes stretch and provides the same load bearing capacity as roller chain, width-for-width. Poly Chain belts utilize a curvilinear tooth profile that increases shear strength, which is crucial to belt durability, with a nylon tooth facing that reduces friction and eliminates the need for lubrication.
A fifth-generation family-owned lumber mill in North Carolina, Culp Lumber produces 650,000 board feet a day. They started experiencing issues with their band mills, which resulted in part replacement several times a year. Learn how Gates helped Culp Lumber convert ten separate chains to a single, maintenance-free Poly Chain belt, for a more efficient, safe, and long-lasting solution, saving the company tens of thousands of dollars annually.

I've been able to see first-hand the impact that converting from chain drives to belt systems can have on our customers and their operations. When downtime costs thousands of dollars each hour, part reliability and maintenance savings add up fast - I've seen facilities save over $180,000 in a single year! We engineer the drives to last…I take pride in knowing that we provide the best solution for each customer.
Find out how converting your roller chain drives to Gates synchronous belt solutions can benefit your operation!

minimize your carbon footprint with poly chain
Converting from chain to belt eliminates the need for drive lubrication, which significantly minimizes greenhouse gas emissions.
Poly Chain lasts up to three times longer than roller chain, for less downtime and less raw material used.
Extend the lifespan of your sprockets and other hardware when you switch to synchronous belts by eliminating metal-on-metal wear.
Your facility's carbon footprint is more complex than just operating emissions. Minimize your environmental impact while increasing profitability with parts that last longer and are responsibly manufactured and sourced. In an independent study, an operation was able to decrease emissions by 12x over a 10 year period, just by switching from a chain system to Gates belt drives.
