Analog Supreme
For 43 years, G-SHOCK has built its reputation on digital toughness: chunky displays, layered readouts, and a resolutely utilitarian dial. The G-SHOCK 2500 Series changes that calculus entirely. The collection is built around Casio's first full-analog module ever developed for the G-SHOCK BASIC lineup — no digital display, no hybrid compromise, just a refined dial expressing the calm flow of time and a purpose-built shock-resistant movement. With the design concept of “depth in shadow,” CASIO focused on what it truly means to read time and how one engages with it, setting aside the ornamental and refining the essential.

Timekeeping
The engineering achievement here is the movement itself. Developed at Yamagata CASIO, the G-SHOCK “mother factory,” the new analog module specifically for the BASIC lineup, with no digital display infrastructure carried over from 43 years of G-SHOCK history, but keeping the toughness and functional beauty of the original G-SHOCK, DW5000C. A multi-mission disk on the dial handles date display, mode indication, stopwatch minutes, and time-setting references — functions that previous models routed through an LCD window.
New Movement,
New Direction
The result is a watch that reads, at a glance, like a clean contemporary analog rather than tactical kit. The underlying G-SHOCK DNA remains intact: shock-resistant movement, standard drop and vibration tolerances, and utility functions including a stopwatch, and light. One notable omission: there is no alarm.
“Simplicity is
The GMC2500 pairs a metal bezel with a resin band, measuring 46.7 × 43.8 × 12.9mm, in three references: the GMC2500-1A and GMC2500-1A8 at $280 each, and the gold-tone GMC2500G-9A at $300. The step up to the GMC2500D brings a stainless steel bracelet; priced at $350. That bracelet construction creates an integrated, refined silhouette, and makes a strong case for the timepiece as an everyday dress option.
Analog
Is Metal
Two spec-sheet features deserve more attention than they typically get at launch. The Second-Hand Stop Function halts the small seconds hand to reduce power draw, extending battery life from 2 years to 5 years — a practical advantage most analog sport watches at this price cannot match. Set the day, month, and year using the Multi-Mission Date function to create a fully automatic calendar, eliminating tedious crown-winding.
