More Than a Jacket
30 Years of the HMLYN Parka
The North Face reimagines the Himalayan Suit as a contemporary parka, impetus for the “It’s More Than A Jacket” campaign. Made with 100% recycled fabrics, including 550-fill recycled down insulation, it brings the Himalayan Parka to the forefront of sustainable design. The fit is also modernized to be oversized for everyday wear. But the parka’s core details — like the two-way zipper for harness compatibility, angled pockets, cocoon-like hood, and color blocking at the chest and sleeve — stay the same to preserve the brand’s DNA.

Hold Fast, All Storms Pass
30 Years of the HMLYN Parka
The North Face launches the iconic Himalayan Down Parka in honor of Conrad Anker, famed mountaineer and 26-year member of The North Face Athlete Team. The TNF Black jacket is emblazoned with his guiding message and the symbolic skull and crossbone flag found at high-altitude basecamps on every continent. As the story goes, Conrad once gave his jacket to an injured climber on the side of Everest.

The Story Continues
30 Years of the HMLYN Parka
Over the last three decades of the Himalayan Suit and Parka, materials and technology have changed but the spirit of exploration has stayed true to The North Face’s core values. Now that athletes have the most technologically advanced kits, the Himalayan Parkas are free to explore new everyday environments. For Fall 2024, the brand is bringing back the original colorways and “Expedition System” embroidery to celebrate the next chapter of this legendary parka.
