What is a virtual race?
A virtual race is a race that can be run or walked from any location you choose. This year the GT5K will offer a live event entry as well as a virtual entry, so you can take part no matter where you are in the world.

When is the Grant Thornton GT5K Virtual race taking pace?
The Virtual GT5K will take place alongside our live GT5K Docklands event on October 4th 2022.

Is there a live event this year?
Yes, please click the link below for information on our live events in Cork, Galway and Dublin.
How much it is to register?
Virtual entry is €20 + booking fees, including a t-shirt. Please note entries made outside of Ireland will be required to pay international shipping charges. Delivery times of t-shirts outside of Ireland will vary depending on customs in a particular jurisdiction.
Where does my registration fee go?
The Registration fee will be split between the event charity partner, the Irish Red Cross and Athletics Ireland’s youth athletics programmes.
Who can take part?
The Virtual GT5K is open to anyone over the age of 18.
What are the distance options?
Just like the physical event, this will be a 5km virtual race. More details can be found here:
Can I still run as an individual or do I need a team?
The Virtual GT5k is open to individuals’ participants and teams, you can choose to set up a team or join an existing team during registration. Plan ahead with your colleagues or friends on team name and who will create the team.
Will there be prizes for virtual entries?
No, team prizes will be available for the live events only.
I have never competed a 5k before?
If your new to running, we have sample training programs available on the GT5K website.
When will my T-shirt arrive?
If you purchased an additional item after September 1st, then your t-shirt will arrive after the event, for more information you can contact RW sports at: firstname.lastname@example.org
How do I submit my time?
To submit your time, you must login into you Eventmaster booking and select the submit race time option. There you will be able to input your time and provide a proof of that time also. The URL field is optional.
Where can I see the results?
Over the event week, there will be a live leader board available to view. Details of where to find this will be available on the event social media channels throughout the event week.
How are team results calculated?
Team results will be calculated by adding together the 4 team member times. Team results will be under three categories, All Male, All Female and Mixed.

What is the Grant Thornton GT5K Series?
The GT5K Corporate Challenge is back with 5k race events in Cork, Galway, and Dublin promising to be bigger and better than ever!
The GT5K is back to help workforces to stay active and healthy while also enjoying some social team building which has gained even more importance over the last two years.
This year we are delighted to announce that you can register as part or a team, or as an individual.
When and where will the 2022 GT5K races take place?
• Kennedy Quay, Cork Sept 6th
• Salthill Promenade, Galway: Sept 14th
• Docklands, Dublin Oct 4th
All events will start at 7.45pm sharp.
There is also an option to participate virtually on October 4th
Who can register?
Anyone over 18 years of age can register for the GT5K events!
What are the team categories?
GT5K 2022 invites corporate teams, family teams, sports club teams or the individual runner to take part and compete. Teams are made up of 4 runners, with team categories for are male, female and mixed.
Can I enter as an individual?
Yes, you can enter as an individual in any of the above races. Please note entries made as an individual will not count towards team prizes.

You will be sent a short bulk entry form to fill out.
How much is it to register?
Entry is €140 per team (+ booking fee) which includes your t-shirts and virtual goodie bag. We also have an Early Bird Rate of €90 for each event which will be available until July 22nd.
Entry for an individual is €35 which includes the sought-after GT5K Race T-Shirt.
Is there prizes?
Yes, we will have prizes for the first 3 teams in each category: Male, Female and Mixed. We will also have spot prizes available during race week.
Can I get a refund on my entry?
Unfortunately, there are no refunds available once you have entered online.
Do I get a t-shirt?
When you register for one of the live events in Cork, Galway, or Dublin you will receive the sought after GT5K t-shirt to add to your collection – or start it!
When will I receive my
T-shirts will be available at our collection stations at each venue on race day. A team member may collect your t-shirt for you on the day.
Will there be a goodie bag?
Yes, to remain as sustainable as possible we will be issuing virtual goodie bags for the 2022 events. Virtual entries will also receive this virtual goodie bag post event.
Can I support a charity?
This year the event charity will be Irish Red Cross. Any proceeds made from the event will be split between the event charity partner, the Irish Red Cross and Athletics Ireland’s youth athletics programmes.
Is there a training plan?
Yes, please visit https://www.grantthornton.ie/gt5k/ for a 6 week training plan.
Where can I find the participant information booklet?
An information booklet will be emailed to all participants closer to the event.
Can I submit my time, and will there be a leader board?
You will not be required to submit your time for the live events as this will take place automatically when you cross the line at the live events. A live leaderboard will be available on the day. A link will be included in your participant booklet which will be emailed to you race week as well as being posted on social media.
Virtual entries will be required to submit a time via a very simple process – details of which will be emailed to you race week.
Will we be required to social distance or wear a mask?
Following current government guidelines there is no requirements to wear a mask or social distance as this is an outdoor event.
How do we get to the venues?
Information will be included in your participant booklet. We encourage you to use public transport where possible.

Can I run for my club?
You can wear your club vest while running if you wish, but club membership is not required for this event. We encourage you to wear your GT5K t-shirt.
