Veg Capital invested £7.5 million in seed capital into VFC Foods, a vegan fried chicken brand. The funding follows a decision by UK supermarket Tesco to stock VFC’s products in its frozen aisles. Lever VC, which invests in early-stage alternative protein companies, led a £0.5 million seed investment into Tiba Tempeh. As well as deals with UK retailers, the company sells direct to consumers via its website and also supplies recipe box firms, including Mindful Chef.

Redalpine led a US$22 million Series A investment into Better Dairy, an animal-free dairy company. It will use the funding to advance its precision fermentation platform with a focus on the development of hard cheeses that are free from animal-derived ingredients. LDC took an undisclosed minority investment in Shaken Udder, a dairy and non-dairy premium milkshake brand. It will use the investment to expand the company’s customer base to convenience stores and continue to develop new products. It will also fund a greater focus on brand marketing and international expansion. (We provided corporate finance advice and financial due diligence for LDC.)
