Yoga is a mind-body exercise that combines physical movement, deep breathing, and meditation. The National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH) reports that yoga may help improve quality of life, lung function, and exercise capacity in people with COPD.
Research suggests that other mind-body practices, such as tai chi and Baduanjin, may also provide similar benefits for people with COPD.

Acupuncture
In acupuncture, a practitioner inserts fine needles into
your skin to treat certain symptoms or health conditions.
A 2023 systematic review linked acupuncture to improvements in quality of life, lung function, and exercise capacity in people with stable COPD.
More research is needed to understand how acupuncture works. It’s possible that it may stimulate your central nervous system in ways that affect your body’s
immune response.
Although research findings have been mixed, a 2022 systematic review found that vitamin D supplementation may help improve lung function and lower markers of inflammation in people with COPD. Many people with COPD have vitamin D deficiency.
Your doctor can help you learn whether you have low
vitamin D. They may recommend a vitamin D supplement
or dietary changes to increase your level of vitamin D.
Music therapy uses music-based activities to support physical or mental well-being. A 2021 systematic review found that certain music-based interventions may help reduce shortness of breath, ease anxiety, and improve sleep quality in people with COPD.
The music-based interventions in this review involved listening to music, singing, or both. More high quality research is needed to confirm the findings of the review.
