Reflexology is a therapy in which gentle pressure is applied to specific points on your body, such as your feet, hands, or ears. It’s thought that these points connect to different organs and body systems, so applying pressure to these areas can promote healing and relaxation in those parts of your body.
The authors of a 2023 review concluded that reflexology therapy can help improve pain, fatigue, and quality of life in people with MS.

Massage
Massage is a type of bodywork therapy that involves rubbing and kneading your muscles and soft tissues. There are many types of massage that can help ease tension, relax muscles, and reduce stress.
Massage can help people with MS prevent or relieve pain, spasticity, circulation issues, and pressure sores.
A 2021 review found that massage can be an effective tool to help relieve fatigue and pain in people with MS. But it's a good idea to talk with your doctor before getting a massage to make sure it’s safe for you.
Tai chi is a gentle form of martial arts-based exercise that combines slow, intentional movements with deep breathing. Practicing tai chi may help relieve stress and improve focus, muscle tone, and the mind-body connection.
While more research is needed on the benefits of tai chi in people with MS, a 2024 study suggests that it may help improve balance and gait, help relieve depression and anxiety, and improve quality of life.
Acupuncture involves inserting thin needles into your skin at specific points along 14 pathways, or meridians, in your body. According to traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture can help balance the flow of energy or life force (qi) throughout these meridians.
Acupuncture may help relieve MS symptoms such as pain, spasticity, numbness, tingling, bladder problems, and depression. A 2022 review found that it may also improve fatigue and gait problems. But it's important to work with a licensed acupuncturist who uses sterile needles.
