A travel urinal is a small, plastic jug-type device you can urinate into if a restroom isn't available. Different designs are available for people. Many are equipped with a lid so that you can seal the urine inside until you can empty and clean the urinal.

Various absorbent products are available to help absorb urine leakage, including incontinence pads, liners, guards, shields, and drip collectors. You can attach these products to the inside of your underwear. Some people wear incontinence underwear or adult diapers designed to contain urine leaks and keep outer clothes dry.

Urgency-related incontinence may cause urine to leak on your underwear, even if you're using an absorbent incontinence pad or another product. Packing an extra pair of underwear can help you prepare for that possibility.
Clean undergarments
If you're planning to sleep away from home and are concerned about the risk of nighttime incontinence, consider packing a disposable bed pad or underpad. You can place the pad over or under a fitted sheet to protect the mattress from urine leakage.

Over time, urine leakage can irritate your skin and raise your risk of bacterial infections. Cleaning the skin around your urethra is important. It may be helpful to use disposable incontinence washcloths
or wipes. Generally, throw these products in the garbage after use rather than flushing them down
a toilet.

Applying a moisturizing cream or lotion may help soothe irritated skin around your urethra. Using a barrier cream can help protect skin from urine and reduce friction from absorbent incontinence pads or other products. Your doctor may recommend specific creams or lotions to use or avoid.

Small plastic bags are useful for containing used incontinence products until you can throw them away. You may also need a bag to hold used underwear until you can clean and dry it. Some manufacturers design incontinence disposal bags
to contain or mask odors.

It's a good idea to wash your hands with soap and clean running water after using the bathroom or handling products that have touched urine. But that isn’t always an option, especially if you're traveling or spending time away from home. You can use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol to clean your hands until you can wash them with soap and water.
