Approaching Age 65: You qualify for Medicare Initial Enrollment for a total of 7 months: starting 3 months before your 65th birthday, your birthday month, and the next 3 months after that. Qualifying Event: If you have certain disabilities or qualifying conditions such as end-stage renal disease (ESRD) or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), you may qualify for Medicare Enrollment. October 15 - December 7, 2022: Medicare Annual Enrollment Period begins on October 15 and goes through December 7. During this time you can join, switch, or drop your plan. Your coverage will begin on January 1. January 1 - March 31, 2023: Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment period begins on January 1 and goes through March 31. If you already are enrolled in a Medicare Advantage Plan, you can switch Medicare Advantage Plans or change back to Original Medicare (and join a separate Medicare drug plan) once during this time period.
