Artistic expression, music, entertainment, and emotion are a few unique elements of the human existence that bring us together, representing what it means to not only experience culture, but to get the most out of the world we live in. San Francisco Ballet stands at the epicenter of culture, constantly breaking boundaries in the art world and redefining the trajectory of where ballet is headed.
This year, San Francisco Ballet is prepared for the next@90 Festival, a celebration of 90 years in dance diversity and performance art. The festival’s concept was the brainchild of Helgi Tomasson, the previous artistic director for the San Francisco Ballet. Tomasson continues to curate the festival to reflect his original vision, an exhibit of art, emotion, and the culmination of all that defines our culture.
From Jan. 20 through Feb. 11 at the War Memorial Opera House in San Francisco, next@90 will showcase nine extraordinary choreographic talents from around the world, each bringing their own magic to on-stage wonder. Each choreographer has a different vision of ballet and its destined future. Through world premiere dances they open their souls and share their vision with the world.
The community of choreographers is experienced in connecting with audiences through exhilarating, original dance works. The eclectic group of creatives can reach every style and discipline ballet has to offer.
