Quality of life in a Wyoming community can mean a lot of things. In Riverton, art and music are an integral part of the lifestyle—and funds from Wyoming Community Gas are helping Riverton residents enjoy the creative arts in a number of ways.
Since 1996, Wyoming Community Gas has reinvested more than $1,000,000 in the communities it serves with competitive natural gas supply. Customers in the Wyoming Community Gas service area have the opportunity to choose Wyoming Community Gas each year during the Choice Gas Selection Period, which typically takes place in April.
The Washington Street Gallery is a unique display of homegrown artwork decorating a walk-through tunnel that passes under railroad tracks in the heart of Rawlins.
Funding Art & Music in Rawlins
“Our goal was to add some color and a little touch of something to your walk through,” said Patty Hays, superintendent of recreation for the City of Rawlins. “There are a lot of people that use this tunnel on a regular basis. It is also the Continental Divide trail, so we get a lot of visitors to the community that come through this tunnel.”
The Washington Street Gallery showcases work from artists aged 12 to 55 along the walls of the tunnel. “This project was funded 100% by Wyoming Community Gas, except for signage and installation,” Hays said. “Those funds had a huge impact on the project and the community.”
Funds from Wyoming Community Gas have also helped fund park benches around Rawlins. Music programs in the park and a sound system in downtown Rawlins that provides music for shoppers and announcements during community events have also been funded by Wyoming Community Gas.
“It’s just that little touch, the improvements to the community that probably would not have happened without squeezing and saving or otherwise whatever, that make a huge difference,” Hays added. “Wyoming Community Gas has been there for us on a constant basis.”
Patty Hays believes community investment should be an important factor when making a decision on a natural gas supplier. “When you look at community buy-in by the companies you do business with, you just start looking a bit more closely at your choices,” she said. “I look at Wyoming Community Gas and I know they’re my choice because they buy into my community. They give back.”
