Does it make a difference which company you choose to provide the natural gas supply for your home or business? Well, there are two important facilities in Laramie that think so.
Since 1996, Wyoming Community Gas has reinvested more than $1,000,000 in the communities it serves with competitive natural gas supply. Customers in the Wyoming Community Gas service area have the opportunity to choose Wyoming Community Gas each year during the Choice Gas Selection Period, which typically takes place in April.
In Laramie, Wyoming Community Gas has supported a number of community initiatives, including the Downtown Clinic and the Laramie Soup Kitchen. These two organizations provide vital support for Laramie residents in need of healthcare, a nutritious meal or maybe just some social interacation.

“If you really think about it, we’re all just one accident away or one unfortunate diagnosis away from needing a place like the Downtown Clinic,” said Pete Gosar, director of the clinic. “We think that healthcare should be kinder and more than just a system. Everybody deserves to have quality healthcare and everybody can help.”

The Downtown Clinic provides a wide range of primary care services as well as specialty care such as emergency dental services and vision care. “There’s a collaborative spirit here that has been part of the history of this clinic,” Gosar added. “Doctors, nurses and mental health professionals in the community volunteer here because they see the opportunity to help people and practice healthcare because they have a real sense of community.”
“Everybody has a role to play and Wyoming Community Gas is a part of our community that helps make this happen,” Gosar said. “This clinic exists because the community says it should. Wyoming Community Gas is part of that community that thinks we should.”
The Laramie Soup Kitchen was started by a group of local church women who began by cooking food in their own homes and serving it in any public space that was available. In 1988, St. Matthew’s Episcopal Cathedral offered the lower level of their facility to serve as a consistent location and the Laramie Soup Kitchen has been there ever since.
The kitchen serves up to 90 people per day. “We’re not focused solely on income-based need; we also want to connect with people who are just in need of social interaction, which is part of our mission,” said executive director Ted Cramer. “We don’t ask questions. If you’re hungry, if you’re lonely, if you’re in need of some sort of interaction, you’re welcome here.”
Wyoming Community Gas has provided financial assistance to the Laramie Soup Kitchen for a number of years. “That support is critical to our operation,” Cramer added. “It has a huge impact on our ability to improve our operations and serve even more people in the community.”
“I strongly encourage our staff and my acquaintances to choose Wyoming Community Gas during the Choice Gas period,” he said. “It is so important that they give money back to help our organization do even more and to improve the quality of life for all of us.”
