“While private school had long been our plan, I always knew I wanted my son to grow up feeling connected to the community in which he lives and appreciate the diversity within it,” Megan Riley said. “I envisioned him making new friends during bus rides to school and growing up with a sense of connection to the kids in his neighborhood. Ultimately, we chose a new home in Spring Branch, specifically, so we could send our son to the best public schools and into environments that are diverse and inclusive, promising for his learning, and, most importantly, conducive for his social development.”
Superintendent Dr. Jennifer Blaine welcomes new families, like the Riley’s, and returning families for an exciting year filled with promise and high expectations. With new student enrollment open, now is the perfect time to register your child in SBISD.

Nothing is more important for your child's development than choosing a school that inspires minds and shapes lives. Encompassing over 44 square miles of tree-lined suburbs located west of downtown Houston, Spring Branch Independent School District (SBISD) does both. SBISD has top educators who deliver outstanding academic experiences and outcomes for Every Child. From setting high expectations for students to providing excellent extracurricular offerings and facilities, SBISD is the choice for parents who want an education that prepares their child for success.
The Riley family bought a home zoned to SBISD after deliberating on a very important question: where would their only child grow up, learn and thrive? The Rileys considered several options for their child. However, the academics, culture and core values played a role in moving to Spring Branch and enrolling their child at Valley Oaks Elementary for kindergarten this year.
We plan, train and teach for the success of Every Child that walks through our school doors... I believe we have some of the most brilliant and passionate educators in the country.
- Dr. Jennifer Blaine, Superintendent
SBISD alumnus Cade Spaulding is a full-time research assistant at Rice University’s Department of Theoretical and Biological Physics, where he is working to develop a theoretical framework to find how cancers caused by more than one genetic mutation can be more easily detected and potentially prevented.
At just 16 years old, Spaulding graduated two years early from SBISD’s Stratford High School in May 2021. He previously attended Meadow Wood Elementary and Cornerstone. He notes that he met some of the most instrumental people in his path in Spring Branch ISD.
“(My Principal) came up with lots of creative ways for me to explore my interests and grow my unique abilities,” said Spaulding. “My high school counselor, Mr. Darryl White, has also been a key part of my journey. He met with me to plan out the best path for me even before I was a student at Stratford. He has also greatly helped me through my college search.”
SBISD also offers students the opportunity to participate in higher education and career-focused learning experiences as part of the district’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) programming. CTE is another way SBISD educators are opening the door to high-wage, high-skill, and high-demand professional and occupational fields for today's learners. Students have access to more than 26 programs of study, and courses are available at all our middle and high schools.
“We are family in Spring Branch ISD. When we say Every Child, we truly mean it,” Dr. Blaine said. “We plan, train and teach for the success of Every Child that walks through our school doors. My child grew up in the district, and I am confident that we have put him in a position to succeed in the real world. I believe we have some of the most brilliant and passionate educators in the country, and our 2017 and 2022 bond projects are equipping them to make our vision of T-2-4 for Every Child a reality.”
T-2-4 for Every Child
SBISD’s vision is for every graduate to attain a technical certificate, military training, or a two-year or four-year degree. This vision is known as Spring Branch T-2-4. To achieve T-2-4 for Every Child, SBISD’s educators focus on delivering authentic learning experiences that engage, motivate, and support the development of important core characteristics in all students. In addition, the school district’s strong network of Good Neighbor partners actively supports teachers, schools, and programming.
Students in SBISD are high achievers, earning multiple awards for academic accomplishments, including over 733 Advanced Placement Scholars and 19 National Merit Scholarship Finalists named by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation in 2021-22. In addition, the Class of 2022 earned over $32 million in scholarships to the nation's top colleges.
In fact, SBISD students once again outperformed their peers with PSAT scores well above both the state and national levels. SBISD combined student scores on the STAAR Test exceeded state levels in every subject for the 2020-21 school year. Preliminary comparison to state data indicates for the 2021-22 school year Spring Branch ISD continues to exceed state performance levels in elementary and middle school reading and math in nearly all grades and performance levels.
