These days, our health is never far from the front of our minds. Even on a routine day, we are constantly hyper-aware of how we’re feeling, what we’re eating, how we’re sleeping, how we’re exercising, and even how many steps we take. But of course, there are key elements of our health that we can’t see or gauge with the naked eye—and there are some factors we can’t even feel. For instance, your blood oxygen level, the amount and saturation of oxygen carried in your red blood cells, can be a silent yet vital indicator of how well your lungs are functioning. During the pandemic, this has taken on even more importance because many people with COVID-19 have low oxygen levels in their blood, which can be an early indicator that further medical care might be needed.
But short of having blood drawn and tested, there hasn’t been a convenient and reliable way to continuously monitor heart rate and oxygen saturation—until now.
The Prevention circul+ Sleep & Fitness Ring is an actual health ring, lightweight and adjustable in size, that slides easily on your finger like any other band. But unlike other jewelry, the Prevention circul+ ring is an FSA-approved health monitor device that tracks your oxygen saturation and heart rate throughout your normal daily activities, while you work and exercise, and even while you sleep.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has emphasized that, during the ongoing pandemic, it’s crucial to monitor blood oxygenation before, during, and after exposure to or infection by COVID-19. And CIRCUL is also a vital health monitor device for any experiencing pulmonary fibrosis, sleep apnea, asthma, COPD, other chronic conditions or illnesses, or just any person who wants to keep track of their health.
And in a time when health is foremost on everyone’s mind, CIRCUL Sleep & Fitness Ring can be a valuable educational tool to provide accurate information for yourself and your caregiver. It can also be a convenient and reliable way to monitor your health through these days of uncertainty. Just ask Dr. Trujillo.

The CIRCUL ring allows us to plug in, look at sleep, testing the quality of sleep that is so important to stay well . . . And of course, we can see low levels of oxygen at rest.

You can also sync your recordings from all three modes to a free cloud account for long-term trending, printing, downloading, and sharing with family, caregivers, and physicians. And circul+ delivers next-level information about the quality and depth of your sleep—you no longer have to guess whether your slept well or not. That’s why Prevention is the ideal partnership for circul+, because the magazine’s editors realize the value of a device that monitors these health metrics, especially in a Covid world.
And if users choose to share this data with their healthcare providers, it can serve as a baseline to help doctors track sleep and make a diagnosis.
“Objective data about our sleep duration, our sleep cycles, our sleep breathing, and our oxygen levels while sleeping can help a consumer make better-informed decisions,” says Dr. Joseph Zelk. “As a sleep doctor, it really helps if I can look at the oxygen levels in sleep along with other sleep metrics. I highly recommend the Prevention circul+ ring as a comprehensive sleep tracker for consumers who want to learn more actionable information about their sleep and how to achieve their highest level of health.”
Daytime Mode—Continuously monitors your blood oxygenation and heart rate throughout your typical day.
Exercise Mode—Monitors your heart rate, steps, and calories burned during workouts.
Sleep Mode—Monitors nighttime blood oxygen and recording captures blood oxygen levels, heart rate, ODI (how often your oxygen level drops per hour) and sleep stages which you can share for review with caregivers and physicians. The one-of-a-kind sleep tracker report also shows your sleep stages, including Awake, REM, and Light and Deep Sleep.
“Wearable technologies have made a tremendous difference in all of our lives—they allow us to lead healthier lives,” says Chris Landon, MD, respiratory specialist. “But now in times of COVID-19, it becomes even more important. The Prevention circul+ ring allows us to plug in, look at sleep, testing the quality of sleep that is so important to stay well. We can look at exercise and whether they are becoming short of breath, which can be a big tip off. And of course, we can see low levels of oxygen at rest.”
Typical pulse oximeters, the clunky stapler-shaped devices that clip onto the end of your finger, are bulky, heavy, uncomfortable, and because you can’t wear them all day, they are unable to continuously track blood oxygen. The Prevention circul+ is light, durable, and comes in three adjustable sizes—Small, Large, or XL. And it works on any finger. You almost don’t notice it’s there. But because of the health ring’s unique, award-winning form factor design, it’s constantly stable against your skin, continually logging accurate data no matter what you’re doing.
And unlike other popular gadgets on the market, Prevention circul+ is a more useful device that provides a much broader picture of your health. For instance, circul+ works in three modes:

REM Sleep constitutes 20% of our total sleep time while the remaining 80% are non-REM sleep stages.

In addition, some studies have shown the common finger clip oximeter to be less accurate when used by people with dark-pigmented skin, poor circulation, or even when wearing nail polish. This is particularly alarming because there is also research that shows Black patients to be at a higher risk for hypoxemia (below-normal level of blood oxygen) and subsequent negative health impacts than white patients due to less accurate pulse oximeter measurements.
But a clinical validation study that compared simultaneous measurements for the Prevention circul+ Ring and arterial blood gas (ABG) tests, considered to be the most accurate, showed that circul+ had excellent correlation with the ABG data. For 100 oxygen saturation measurements submitted by Black individuals, the mean difference between circul+ and ABG values was just 1.06%.

“The Prevention circul+ ring has been a game-changing lifesaver,” says Dr. Trujillo. “It doesn’t interfere with my lifestyle and adapts to my activities of daily living, working, and outside activities without me having to worry about it breaking, falling off, or getting wet with frequent hand-washing, showering, or gardening.”
Dr. Gloria Trujillo is a family physician in Asheville, North Carolina. She is also a patient who has been dealing with Long Covid (PAS-C). As part of her recovery, Dr. Trujillo knew she needed a reliable and accurate way to monitor her heart and oxygen saturations in real time, 24/7. She also wanted a way to be able to share this information with her own doctor.
That’s why Dr. Trujillo bought a Prevention circul+ Heart & Blood Oxygen Wellness Monitor, a pulse oximeter and much more from BodiMetrics, in partnership with Prevention magazine. The Prevention circul+ ring can be worn on your finger comfortably day and night as a continuous blood oxygen and heart rate monitor.
