FEATURED BREWERY
WINTER 2022
With the opening of Saucy Brew Works in Brush Park, the search may be over. Located in the brand-new City Modern mixed-use community development by Bedrock, Saucy Brew Works is the innovative intersection of two of our favorite things: coffee and craft beer. It’s a local haunt done right, with inviting industrial revival décor and plenty of light, highlighting its beautiful hardwood tables and glimmering stainless steel tanks that deliver the clean, pure flavor of great-tasting beer.
Nestled within a half-mile radius of Comerica Park, Ford Field, and Little Caesars Arena, Saucy Brew Works is perfectly positioned to be sports fans’ pre- and post-game hangout. An enticing menu stacked with elevated bar bites—Bavarian pretzels, roasted cauliflower, and wings—and Saucy Brew Works’ signature “Apizzas”—New Haven-style thin crust pizzas—is backed by an extensive offering of 20+ year-round and seasonal craft beers. As Detroit’s newest craft brewery, Saucy Brew Works adds a level of diversity and award-winning pizazz to the already compelling MiBrew Trail.

Downtown Detroit Finally Has Its Craft Beer Bar
Not just a product of the craft beer craze, Saucy Brew Works in Brush Park has all the makings of a place the community will embrace. According to co-owner and operator Brent Zimmerman, this is no accident.
“We love Detroit and what is going on here as it has a similar vibe to our hometown in Cleveland. City Modern is a very exciting project bringing life to an iconic neighborhood, and we can’t wait to be part of that,” said Zimmerman in a recent Detroit News feature.
As Zimmerman noted, Saucy Brew Works began in Cleveland, where, since 2017, they’ve won award after award for their high-quality craft beer and dining, including #2 Best Brewery two years running, coming in between two craft brew megastars, Great Lakes Brewery and Fat Heads. Their brewing styles capture classic German, American, experimental yeast, and wild-type beers. Using a boutique BrauKon brewing system known for its efficiency and precision, Saucy Brew Works’ offerings sparkle with bold flavors and unique hues. The brewery sports three core brews: Habituale, a Kölsch-style golden ale; Juicy Asap, an American IPA; and Love You, Bye, a hazy imperial IPA, along with seasonal offerings, including everything from a Christmas ale and German-style Oktoberfest to stouts and the Drifter Series—a series of sours brewed with a new strain of experimental yeast dubbed Lachancea.
Their love of satisfying and great-tasting beer is mirrored by Saucy Brew Works’ inaugural coffee roastery, Saucy Coffee. The coffeehouse is located inside Saucy Brew Works’ and opens at 7:00 am Monday–Friday. Coffee and beer have often intersected in the past, and Saucy Coffee continues that tradition, serving single-origin house roast, pour-overs, and espresso, as well as a specialty menu inspired by Saucy beers, like What’s His Nuts—a vanilla stout with peanut butter and coffee and Modern Crimes—a toasted coconut porter.
To welcome everyone to Detroit’s Saucy Brew Works, a bustling 5,700-square-foot space featuring both indoor and outdoor seating at 2671 John R. Street, the brewery is offering nightly and weekly specials, including BOGO Mondays—buy one, get one on any small signature apizza—Trivia Thursdays and Happy Hour every Monday–Friday 3:30–5:30 pm, where revelers can enjoy half-off shareable apps, half-off small and medium margherita apizzas, and $4 draft beers.
For Red Wings and Pistons fans, Saucy Brew Works has something special in mind. All season long, attendees of Red Wings and Pistons games can bring their ticket on game day and receive 50% Off a Medium Apizza with your gameday ticket. It’s dine-in only, so make sure you save a little space for one of their delicious brews. Follow Saucy Brew Works on Facebook and Instagram to get up-to-the-minute updates on all the latest happenings.
With sports, entertainment, and a new community of living spaces, all Brush Park was missing was a place for everyone to gather and enjoy the best part of life together. With the opening of Saucy Brew
Works, we now have that place. See you at the local!
