Old-school farmer pours his heart and soul into every glass
Tom Gamble is a farmer first. He’s the third generation of Gamble to work the Napa Valley; his roots run more than a century deep in this soil. But while his grandfather started running cattle and planting crops, today Tom continues the tradition of cultivating some of the finest vineyards in this acclaimed region. He’s not only the owner of this acreage, he’s the steward, the caretaker. Every day, Tom and his co-workers invest an honest, hard-day’s work in this land, and as a result every glass of Gamble Family wine that comes from its bounty is imbued with that family legacy.

Quality wine only comes from nutrient-rich, healthy land. The Gamble family recognized early on that the most powerful pathway to preservation is through continuous reinvestment in the environment and in the people who support it. Gamble Family Vineyards has an unwavering commitment to and a true passion for the environment. They’ve spent lifetimes upon lifetimes earning a living from this soil, so they see nature itself as a catalyst for innovation.
One example of this sustainable philosophy is the Napa Green program. Tom was honored to participate in their original drafting in 2004. As part of this voluntary program, the winemakers of Napa hold themselves accountable to the most stringent requirements in the most environmentally conscious state, of California. This deep reverence for nature is a source of constant inspiration for Tom and his team, and it touches everything they produce. Down to earth, is an understatement — the Gambles are of the earth.

CONNECT:
Of course, wine lovers don’t have to come all the way to Napa to get a taste of the Gamble experience. Whether you’re at home, at a dinner party, or dining at your favorite restaurant, each glass of Gamble wine is a taste of the family’s farming legacy that seems to stop time in its tracks. Every vintage of Gamble wine represents a snapshot of a particular growing season, years of care and ample time in barrel. The result of the hard work and painstaking attention to detail are nuanced, balanced wines, inspired by old-world classics of Bordeaux that have a beautiful food-affinity.
All of the tastes, smells, history, and fellowship offered at Gamble Family Vineyards is contained in each bottle, which can be ordered online and shipped to most states. From their complex, robust, and balanced Cabernet Sauvignons to their crisp, creamy, and elegant Sauvignon Blancs — many of them named after members of the family — Gamble wines are made with care and quality in mind, and they are meant to be sipped on slowly and shared with fellow wine lovers.

When producing wine, Gamble uses only the best fruit, hand-harvested by experienced hands from their highly sought-after estate vineyards. The goal each year is to translate their collective experience and craftsmanship into a high-quality wine with the smallest foot-print possible. They want to ensure that every sauvignon blanc is crisp, each rose is refreshing, and every cabernet is well-structured and balanced, every wine worthy of the name on the label.
Even though Gamble Family wine is grown and made to be choice enough for the most discerning connoisseur, each vintage and style is approachable and easy to enjoy for any casual weekend wine drinker. The same can be said for the overall Gamble Family experience.
And there are many ways to get that experience.
First, of course, is in person. Whether touring the region or entertaining at home, people turn to Napa wines because they want to pop a cork on an authentic experience. And as with most adventures, to find the most unique and unforgettable experiences, you need to stray a bit off the beaten path. Gamble Family Vineyards is nestled in the heart of the Napa Valley’s Oakville AVA, hidden in the hills, and secluded from the bustle of Highway 29. There is no Gamble sign along that main drag, just a red mailbox the hospitality team uses as a landmark. The vineyard is not a drop-off on a stop-and-go tour; it is not even open to the general public. Visitors are welcome, in person by appointment or just by buying a bottle online, to become a part of the Gamble extended family.
That also means that when you drink Gamble Family wine, whether tasting at the winery or sharing a bottle with loved ones, you invest part of yourself in these vineyards and the people who tend to them. You become part of the family — you belong. And everyone is welcome.
The Gamble experience starts with the wine. Tom knows that all the marketing in the world is worthless without a quality product. He’s a businessman, a successful and hardworking one, but above all, he’s a vintner. He spends his days, not behind a desk, but in the field and in the winery, getting his boots, hands, and even his iconic hat dirty.

Slow down time with Gamble Family Wine
“We hope you enjoy our wines over several hours with good food and those you love.”
– Tom Gamble
A visit to Gamble is like no other. Time moves a bit slower here, as patrons are guided on a journey of the grounds to learn a bit about the Gambles’ careful, time-honored process, before going back to the tasting room to experience flavors that showcase four distinct microclimates — Oakville, Yountville, Rutherford, and Mt. Veeder. Throughout the experience, the conversation flows both ways, like it would with old friends. Often Tom, himself, will stop in to meet and greet his guests and get to know them personally. People arrive as guests, and they leave as members of the family, steeped in the knowledge of and kinship with this place.
The Gambles built their business from the ground up, and they make their wine for hardworking people like themselves, who appreciate quality but would rather forego the pretense of wine as a status symbol. More than anything, they make wine to be shared and enjoyed by people who appreciate high-quality wine, good food and the communion it facilitates — whether it’s at Gamble Family Vineyards, or on an intimate date night for two.
