Graniterock Supply’s new location on Highway 68 is designed for quick answers, fast loading and easy in and out for contractors, landscapers and homeowners.
Anchoring the site is an expansive landscape supply bunker stocked with sand, gravel, and natural stone, plus bark, mulches, and soil blends. Inside, a streamlined floor of pro-grade essentials and outdoor hardscape displays make side-by-side decisions simple, covering construction supplies (safety vests, shovels, tools), hardscape (natural stone, interlocking pavers), and landscape (decorative rock, soils, mulches). It’s a polished, retail-friendly experience with the depth of a professional yard.
Graniterock Supply Manager Jeff Lindsay says the new location allows Graniterock to better serve Monterey County: “This is a great location with tons of traffic coming from the Highway 68 corridor, including Corral de Tierra, Toro Park, San Benancio, and River Road neighborhoods.”
Graniterock Supply on Work Street in Salinas continues to focus on ready-mix concrete and construction supplies, while the branch on Del Monte Boulevard in Seaside will continue specializing in natural stone products, which are in high demand throughout the Monterey Peninsula.
1990s: Presidential Recognition
Bruce W. Woolpert’s belief in total quality management which stresses a commitment to safety, quality products, management and customer service and contributions to the community, paid dividends as Graniterock continued to lead in the industry. President George H.W. Bush presented Graniterock team members with the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, our nation’s highest honor for business.
2010s: Expansion
Since 2010, Graniterock has entered a new chapter of growth, innovation and community investment. Emerging from the Great Recession, the company achieved strong expansion across every division while embracing new technology to serve customers more efficiently. The Construction Group enhanced its capabilities with the acquisition of FMG, a leading grinding company, and extended regional reach through a new team based in Contra Costa County. Across the company, state-of-the-art technology, including digital project management tools, advanced equipment automation and sustainable material production, has transformed how Graniterock builds and delivers. At the Wilson Quarry, major infrastructure investments modernized operations, highlighted by a new wastewater reduction plant, premium sand plant and integration of solar energy systems, reflecting Graniterock’s long-term commitment to environmental stewardship and innovation.
Today: Celebrating 125 Years of Community Service
Graniterock Supply is located in Salinas, Seaside, Watsonville, Santa Cruz and Redwood City. The values of quality, innovation and respect for people, which were first established by the company’s founder, Arthur R. Wilson, continue to shape the company today.

The holidays are a time for reflection. Reflecting on 126 years of serving Central California and the greater San Francisco Bay Area, Graniterock Supply’s historical moments tell the story of a family-run business that’s grown for over a century into a trusted cornerstone of Bay Area construction and logistics.
Valentine’s Day, 1900: Solid Beginnings
Graniterock was incorporated on the strength of the Logan Quarry and the tight-knit community of families that settled in adjacent Aromas. Founder A.R. Wilson became the first to lead the company that remains family-owned today.
1920s: Change and Growth
1922 saw a big change to the two-decade-old building company. A.R.’s wife passed away and their son Jeff joined the management team. Together, they expanded into two new companies: Central Supply Company for building materials and Graniterock for general construction work. Graniterock was given California Contractors’ License Number 22.
1950s: Women at the Helm
After 33 years as president of Graniterock’s three companies, Anna Wilson, who took over for her husband, retired. The position passed to her daughter Betsy Woolpert.
1970s and 80s: Modernization
In the 1970s, Graniterock began to modernize its business culminating in the full modernization of the Logan Quarry, now a state-of-the-art aggregate mining operation. New technologies transformed the company’s ability to provide cutting-edge quality and services. The company remains vital to the continued growth of the San Francisco and Monterey Bay regions. In 1986, A.R.’s grandson, Bruce W. Woolpert, joined the company, ushering in a new approach to total quality management.
