With 1 in 6 kids ages 3-12 experiencing bedwetting on a regular basis, staying dry at night can be a challenge for children and teens well after they are potty trained. If your child stays dry during the day but experiences bedwetting at night, then it might be time to transition from training pants to managing nighttime bedwetting with Goodnites® Nighttime Underwear from Sam’s Club.
Staying dry at night can be a challenge for children and teens
Oftentimes, it’s perfectly normal and just a phase. Bladder size, nervous system development, genetics, or simply being a deep sleeper can all play a role in nighttime bedwetting. Regardless of the cause, your child deserves a cozy and restful night’s sleep. Goodnites® can help your child achieve the best night’s sleep possible, no matter how much they move in their bed throughout the night.
Goodnites® is the #1 nighttime underwear, specifically designed for bedwetting. Bedwetting can be a challenging time for any child, and as parents it’s our responsibility to
give them the love, understanding, and support that they need to get through it. With how common nighttime wetting can be, Sam’s Club offers Goodnites® in sizes ranging from S/M through XL, with fun patterns and designs your child will love. No matter what position your child sleeps in or how much their bladder holds, you can count on Goodnites® and Sam’s Club to help make you and your child’s nights easier. In addition, Goodnites is eligible for purchase under FSA and HSA plans.
Bedwetting 101
Bedwetting, also known as nighttime wetting, incontinence, or nocturnal enuresis, is a medical condition that can affect any child. It happens when a child, who is already daytime potty-trained, is unable to control their bladder, and urinates at night during their sleep. Bedwetting is a normal part of growing up for millions of kids and occurs most often because their brain and bladder aren’t yet communicating well. For many children, as they become older, their brain and bladder communicate better and bedwetting resolves.
Genetics, having a small bladder, producing too much urine at night, or simply being a deep sleeper may all be reasons that a child has trouble staying dry at night. Children stop wetting the bed at different ages. It depends on their body’s unique development, so it’s hard to predict when bedwetting will stop. All children are different and on different schedules. Your child will stop wetting the bed when their body says they’re ready.
Additionally, studies have shown that children with Autism and/or ADHD are more likely to experience bedwetting than their neurotypical (or typically developing) peers. Visit Goodnites.com for more information on ADHD, Autism, and Bedwetting.
When do children stop bedwetting?
After talking with your pediatrician and ruling out a medical issue that may need treatment, it helps to reassure your child that it’s really no big deal. It may help your child to know that many other kids and teens also experience some wetness at night. Additionally, consider healthy habits such as avoiding caffeine, limiting screentime before bed, establishing a nighttime routine, and creating a comfortable sleep-friendly environment that fosters a sense of safety and security.
What can you do to help support your child?
Pull-Ups are designed for daytime use during potty training while Goodnites® are specifically designed to fit and provide protection against accidents for kids who only wet at night! Unlike potty training, which is deliberate and happens during the day when the child is conscious, nighttime bladder control depends on the maturity of the nervous system and bladder so it can be much harder to train a child at night.

A proud partner of Autism Society of America
Wetting the bed after a child is potty trained is called nocturnal enuresis. While it can be a source of emotional stress for children, it’s important to know that it’s really no big deal. Providing love and support for your child during this time is crucial. Goodnites® supports children and their families with comfortable and absorbent Nighttime underwear in fun designs for boys and girls.
If your child is having trouble staying dry at night, they are in good company. Up to 20% of five year olds and 5% of ten year olds experience bedwetting. In fact, 7 million kids in the U.S. between the ages of 3-12 frequently wet the bed at night. Goodnites® can provide up to 100% leak free nights so your child stays comfy and dry throughout the night.
Oftentimes bedwetting is not a cause for alarm. Experts agree most bedwetting is the result of the bladder and brain not yet making the necessary connection. Other causes include genetics, an underlying medical condition, hormone imbalance or simply having a small bladder. Whether it’s temporary or a longer-term struggle, Goodnites® is here to meet your family’s needs.
It's natural to assume that if you can train a child for daytime potty use, you can also train them to stay dry at night. But nighttime dryness is a whole different developmental and physical process. Most children will outgrow bedwetting naturally, but in the meantime, Goodnites® can provide support and reassurance.
Pull-Ups are great for potty training and transitioning a toddler from diapers to underwear. But Pull-Ups are designed for daytime use, while Goodnites® keep kids dry through a long night, even if your child moves around. With Quicksorb™ Protection, odor absorption, and gap-free fit, Goodnites® delivers optimal support.
Waking up dry after a full night’s sleep can boost your child’s confidence and set them up for a great day ahead. As the #1 nighttime underwear in the Youth Pant category, Goodnites® is clinically proven for a better night's sleep. Goodnites® provides up to 100% leak free nights, holding up to three 8 oz water bottles of liquid.
Goodnites® is honored to support the Autism Society of America, helping families create bright and successful starts to their kids' days. Kids with autism and ADHD have higher instances of bedwetting than their peers. It’s important that these children know that bedwetting is not their fault. Goodnites® provides a critical layer of support for all children on their journey toward dryer nights.
