Nancy shows no signs of slowing her efforts to help others relieve stress. She recently introduced Mist Me Therapy Spray, a “holistic, drug-free, spritzable stress-reduction tool." Each volume is infused with spa-quality oils that combat everyday stress generators. The mist will not only surround you with calm, but you will also subconsciously remember previous times the scent alleviated your anxiety.
As a practicing hypnotherapist specializing in stress management, Nancy Rothner has witnessed escalating anxiety levels in all segments of the American population for more than two decades. A holistic practitioner, she had also studied the soothing powers of aromatherapy and tactile stimulation with her clients. She felt called to do something tangible, creating Pinch Me Therapy Dough and Mist Me Therapy Spray, to help her patients reduce their stress levels. Shark Tank provided Nancy the opportunity to share her products with a wider consumer base, and we are all the better for it. Visit the Pinch Me Therapy Dough website to learn more.
“When you walk into the tank, you have to wait until they tell you to speak, so it’s silent when you are just standing in front of the sharks,” she recalls. “I looked around to see if I could connect silently. Damon John had the kindest, sweetest, most welcoming, gentle smile and nod, and I felt so much support, yet I hadn’t even spoken yet. Lori Greiner was the same way, so present and kind. They want everyone to have a phenomenal experience. I was touched by how genuinely kind they were.”
Kindness is Nancy’s modus operandi as well, for helping others formed the foundation of Pinch Me Therapy Dough in the first place. She also donates a portion of her company’s profits to the Wounded Warrior Project, an organization for “veterans and service members who incurred a mental illness, injury, or wound while in the military.”
“It’s about paying it forward,” she says. “I feel very drawn to supporting the military and want to send relief their way. Also, my son just joined the Air Force. On some level, when someone is buying a product that has good behind it, just purchasing reduces that stress — it further connects the charity to stress relief.”
"When I started my own business as a contractor last year, I had no idea a pandemic was on the horizon,” says Callie from Oklahoma City. “Working from home with four young children was not part of my business plan. As local schools closed, my stress increased. I have found myself unable to sleep due to added stress. With my anxiety at an all-time high, I was relieved to find Pinch Me. It's just what I need after a long day at my computer to relax my hands, wrists, and eyes. I can focus on my work knowing that stress relief is available without leaving my home. Thank you for your product as such a critical time for parents wearing many hats right now."
Moms like Callie weren’t the only people who discovered Pinch Me Therapy Dough. In fact, Nancy found herself promoting her product to another set of high caliber businesspeople in March 2021: TV’s Shark Tank. She says the “Sharks” were magnificent people who took potential investment very seriously. She received offers from three Sharks to help expand her products and brand.
“I was at a point in my life where I could help people going through hard times,” Nancy says. “It became so powerful and I knew this was it.”
For two years, after full days spent conducting therapy, Nancy worked on her Pinch Me project, perfecting the elasticity and size to best accommodate a variety of ages, including adolescents, adults, and seniors.
Pinch Me Therapy Dough is a unique stress relieving product on the market, differing from the classic squeeze ball in several ways. To start, it is a malleable dough that changes form, whereas a squeeze ball does not. Pinch Me Therapy Dough also comes in over a dozen pastel colors, each infused with aromatherapy scents for additional comfort. Shaping the dough is a more natural activity, a way to focus and relax one’s mind while inhaling proven herbal scents, like relaxing citrus and an especially rejuvenating cucumber-mint blend.
As we shift to a post-COVID world and return to (somewhat) normal days, the potential for stress looms ahead. Most of us will revert to commuting in heavy traffic, running our kids to practices and activities, and striving to balance our work-life equilibrium. Nancy Rothner, clinical hypnotherapist and inventor of Pinch Me Therapy Dough, gets it.
As clinical hypnotherapist, Nancy watched stress levels rise steadily during her 20 years of practice, which included tenure counseling at a domestic violence shelter. Observing her clients’ desire to shift focus in the present, Nancy identified the benefit of a tactile stress relief tool. She conceptualized a dough that would help people literally squeeze anxiety out of their systems. Pinch-Me Therapy Dough was born.
