Dining out in San Francisco has always been a delicious way to spend quality time connecting with friends and family, while enjoying some of the Bay Area’s most eclectic and internationally diverse collections of restaurants. And for nearly 25 years, Dining Out For Life San Francisco has provided a unique opportunity for the community to enjoy “cuisine for a cause” by helping to support those living with and at risk for HIV. As an annual event, Dining Out For Life is held in cities throughout the United States and Canada to benefit local AIDS service organizations. Dining Out For Life San Francisco benefits the San Francisco AIDS Foundation (SFAF) and supports the organization’s mission of health promotion, wellness, and social justice for communities most impacted by HIV.
Celebrate Our Local Flavors with Dining Out For Life and Support San Francisco AIDS Foundation
This year’s Dining Out For Life San Francisco will be held on Wednesday, April 24, and it’s easy for everyone to participate: Simply dine out at a participating restaurant, and at least 25% of your bill will be donated to the San Francisco AIDS Foundation. So, while you’re enjoying that authentic slice of NY style pizza at Amici’s East Coast Pizzeria, or brunching on a delicious “everything” croissant at Kahnfections neighborhood bakery and café, you can “savor the flavor” knowing that 100% of the proceeds from those two restaurants are being donated to the San Francisco AIDS Foundation. Thinking of an elegant dinner of classic San Francisco cioppino while overlooking the harbor at Fisherman’s Wharf? Then book your table for April 24 at Pescatore Trattoria inside Hotel Zoe, where 100% of your bill will be donated to the San Francisco AIDS Foundation.

We look forward to hosting DOFL every year. We’ve been participating at my businesses for years. It’s always a great time for the guests and I love being able to raise money for an organization that does so much good for so many people.

With more than 35 Bay Area restaurants grilling, baking, cooking, and serving for Dining Out For Life San Francisco, there’s sure to be a flavor or dish to satisfy your tastebuds! Restaurant owners, chefs, servers, and staff look forward each year to this community-based fundraising event, knowing they are supporting the needs of people living with HIV in the Bay Area. An added feature for this year’s event is the new Lunch option, designed to encourage businesses to buy lunch from participating restaurants for their employees. Whether it’s a team lunch meeting at their nearby participating restaurant or a take-out order, it’s easier than ever for local Bay Area businesses to make an impact and raise funds for the San Francisco AIDS Foundation.
A new lunch option makes it easy for Bay Area businesses.
Two ways to make a difference: Dine at a participating restaurant or enlist as a volunteer.
While the easiest way to participate is to simply dine at a participating restaurant on April 24, serving as a volunteer is another way to give back. SFAF enlists volunteer Ambassadors who pair up with local restaurants to collect donations online and create buzz about the fundraiser. As an Ambassador, you can promote your own brand of “food for thought” by encouraging friends and family to meet at a participating restaurant, knowing at least 25% of your bill will be donated to the San Francisco AIDS Foundation. As a Dining Out For Life Ambassador, you will represent SFAF as a “host” and partner with one of the event’s premier restaurants. The Dining Out For Life team will help equip you with all the tools, training and resources needed to assist in successful fundraising, while creating awareness for SFAF and its mission.
Emer Braddock is a committee member and has served as a restaurant ambassador for 13 years. Each year, she encourages friends and family to meet her at a participating restaurant. Braddock says there’s always great energy on this special night:
It is wonderful to see everyone get together, indulge in a great meal, and enjoy each other’s company, all while supporting this impactful organization. It makes me feel proud to know that the contributions from this event directly impact the health of our community
– Emer Braddock, Restaurant Ambassador
Volunteering as a Table Captain is another way to participate by filling a table via social media outreach. Again, Dining Out For Life San Francisco and SFAF will set you up for success as an official Table Captain. All you need to do is invite those who are within your “orbit” to meet up for a drink or a meal and fill up a table. It’s that easy! Suggested hashtags and the event’s robust social media platforms, combined with your savvy social media skills, will ensure another great success in supporting the services of the San Francisco Aids Foundation.
Use your social media moxie as a Table Captain.
As a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing services for people most at risk for HIV, San Francisco AIDS Foundation is on a mission to end the AIDS epidemic. By providing HIV and STI testing, PEP & PrEP, counseling, case management, and much more, SFAF is committed to creating a healthy future for us all. Plan now to participate in this year’s delicious edition of Dining Out For Life San Francisco on April 24. We’re serving up much more than just great food!
Braddock calls it “incredibly meaningful” to see restaurants continue to partner with San Francisco AIDS Foundation year after year.
