South County recently added two more giant trolls by world renowned recycle artist Thomas Dambo. These giant trolls join Erik Rock and Greta Granit, who have lived in Ninigret Park for over a year, on the RI Troll Trail. The two new trolls are Iver Mudslider, who moved into North Kingstown’s Ryan Park, and Young Boulder, who resides in Arcadia’s Browning Mill Pond. Plus, another troll, Mrs. Skipper, has come to Rhode Island. She lives in East Providence on Kettle Point Pier and completes the RI Troll trail. These iconic and friendly sculptures (of just 170 in the world), bring a sense of culture and whimsy to the scenic Rhode Island coast, encouraging visitors and locals alike to come together and experience the joys of public art. Cleverly placed within natural settings the trolls are crafted entirely from recycled wood, blending art and nature in an inspiring salute to sustainability. These fantastical sculptures join Dambo’s family of trolls, which are scattered around the globe, and have quickly become an essential stop on any South County vacation.
