ThE Statewide Stampede is raising money so future generations have an Alamo to remember
Answer the Call
The Alamo is not just a monument for San Antonio or Bexar County — it is a continued source of pride and inspiration for all of Texas. This hallowed ground is where nearly 200 Texan defenders died fighting the forces of Santa Ana during the Texas Revolution. “Remember the Alamo!” became the battle cry for all Texans that ultimately led to the state’s Independence. And in the decades since, The Alamo has become a symbol of courage, resilience, and honor for the entire Lone Star State.
Today, more than 1.6 million visitors come from all over the globe to tour The Alamo, walk the grounds, and learn about its illustrious past. As the most visited destination in all of Texas, it is our state’s calling card, the world’s window into our heritage and what makes us Texan.
But just as The Alamo is a foundational part of Texas’s past, the people of this state must help lay the groundwork for the historic fortress’s future. That’s why we’re asking residents, ranchers, and cowboys of each of the state’s 254 counties to do what Texans do best: Saddle up and support The Alamo!
The Alamo Statewide Stampede is a public fundraising campaign to benefit the Remember the Alamo Foundation and help preserve the park’s past and blaze a path for its future. Just as we glory in being Texans, we also take no small measure of pride in our county of residence. That’s why this drive is a challenge to see which of the state’s 254 counties can raise the most in support of this sacred Lone Star landmark.
Anyone can send their tax-deductible monetary donation of any amount directly to the Statewide Stampede. Donations of $250 and above will be recognized on the Alamo website.
But in true Texas style, the Alamo Statewide Stampede is also calling directly to the state’s ranchers, cowboys, and cowgirls to donate a portion of the proceeds from any livestock sales. This is the Alamo Livestock Roundup, and the process is simple: First, take your livestock to your regular sales barn, which can then auction the animals through the normal process. Then you need only request that the proceeds be mailed to the Remember the Alamo Foundation. Ranches that donate $25,000 or more will have their brand memorialized on a permanent cattle sculpture erected on Alamo grounds.

A Vision for the Future
The goal of the year-long Alamo Statewide Stampede is for each county to participate in this drive. The counties that win the contest will be selected based on the dollars raised per capita — so even the smallest county can win.

Scheduled to open in 2027, this Visitor Center and Museum will feature 160,000 square feet of space, combining vivid historical storytelling with cutting-edge immersive elements. There will be multiple galleries and a 4D theater, piecing together the story of this land from its earliest indigenous inhabitants to the turning point of the Texas Revolution and the epic battle that ensued here to the long-term legacy of the Alamo. The museum will showcase the growing collection of more than 5,000 artifacts, including personal articles that once belonged to Sam Houston and Santa Anna.
The project promises to transform The Alamo into a world-class cultural and learning destination worthy of its global notoriety.

The yearlong drive will culminate in November with the Happy Trails public event, where the first-, second-, and third-place counties in Stampede donation totals are announced and trophies will be awarded and a Key to the Alamo will be presented to a County Judge and Mayor of the county’s choosing.
During the siege of the Alamo in 1836, Lieutenant-Colonel William Barret Travis famously penned a letter pleading with his fellow Texians for reinforcements and supplies. Nearly two centuries later, the landmark is once again asking the people of Texas to come to its aid and help ensure that future generations have an Alamo to remember. Will you answer the call?
