As the congressman for Texas’ 23rd Congressional District, I am committed to serving the needs of my constituents. My team is trained to act as the liaison between the federal government and my constituents on issues including retrieving documents, veterans’ assistance, and passport processing. If you, or someone you know, is having difficulty with a federal agency, I encourage you to reach out to my office.
A few months ago, a constituent reached out to our team after several months of not being able to get a hold of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) regarding Social Security benefits. Just three days after her request came to us, she received a deposit of over $7,000 for the previous year’s Social Security benefits due to the help of our casework team.
This success story is just one of over one thousand cases solved last year. With five office locations across the district, my team has been able to return $2,500,000 of federal funds to constituents since January 2022. In addition to my office locations, I have held events in all 29 counties across TX-23.
As a 20-year Navy veteran, I personally understand many of the concerns and struggles our veterans face. My team can assist with a number of issues including obtaining medals and awards, disability benefits, pension benefits, and VA healthcare.

How can your office help constituents?
How can constituents in rural areas get access to your office?
As a congressman, it is my top priority to be accessible to every constituent in every corner of the district. That being the case, I knew that in addition to my district offices it was imperative to offer mobile office hours to constituents. Mobile office hours allow constituents in more rural areas to have the same consideration and access to my office without traveling far distances.
What services does your office provide for veterans?
What opportunities does your office offer to students?
As a father of six, I am passionate about the opportunities provided to our children. As such, our office provides various resources for our students to get involved including the Congressional app challenge, art competition, and internships. Furthermore, we offer resources for Texas state students seeking a nomination to service in a U.S. Military Academy.
Do you have an example of how your team has assisted constituents?
Meet The congressman
Congressman Tony Gonzales is a dedicated patriot with twenty years of military experience. Abandoned by his father at the age of two months, Tony knew he had to work hard to get ahead in life. At the age of 18, he left high school to join the military and provide a path to success for himself and his family.
As a career cryptologist in the United States Navy, he rose to the highest enlisted rank of Master Chief Petty Officer for his support of combat operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. With multiple deployments to the Middle East and Asia, Tony has firsthand experience about the security challenges that face our country and the international community at large.
Harnessing his military background, Tony also served on Capitol Hill as a Department of Defense Legislative Fellow for U.S. Senator Marco Rubio. In his time there, he contributed to the defense, foreign policy, and intelligence portfolios. In 2018, Tony was selected as a National Security Fellow at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies (FDD).
At home in San Antonio, Tony is an active member of his community and has helped to create educational and economic opportunities in impoverished areas. In his role as Community Representative for the City of San Antonio’s Head Start Policy Council, he oversaw a budget of $32.5 million devoted to early childhood development.
Tony worked hard to get ahead in life. He understands the value that a good education can provide. Although he had to postpone high school when he joined the Navy, he later earned his high school diploma and continued to pursue higher education. He holds a Master’s degree in International Relations from American Public University and is a Ph.D. candidate in International Development at the University of Southern Mississippi. He also holds a graduate certificate in Legislative Studies from Georgetown University, and serves as an Assistant Professor at the University of Maryland system, where he teaches political science with an emphasis on counterterrorism.
Congressman Gonzales is married to his wife Angel and they have six wonderful children.
