Traditionally, knowledge has been passed down from elder to youth, master to apprentice, and teacher to student. This academic hierarchy still exists on many university campuses worldwide.
However, at Touro University Nevada, a non-profit institution dedicated to making a positive impact on healthcare education, the faculty and staff view their students as equals rather than subordinates. Touro values their students by fostering a collaborative and supportive learning environment, encouraging open communication, and providing personalized mentorship to help each student achieve their full potential as future healthcare leaders.

Touro takes pride in their open-door policy, welcoming any student who has questions or concerns, even those not directly related to school, or just wants to strike up a discussion. The faculty and staff, all leaders in their respective fields, are always available.
This emphasis on the students’ overall well-being, beyond just their academic success, makes sense when you consider that one of the school’s centerpiece programs is the College of Osteopathic Medicine, built around the philosophy that each person is a combined unit of mind, body, and spirit. Touro’s DO (Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine) program graduates more doctors annually than any other medical school in Nevada.

The difference between a DO and an MD.
DOs and MDs both require rigorous medical education. However, a DO must also complete and additional 300-500 hours of hands-on training in the body's musculoskeletal system and the interconnected system of nerves, muscles and bones in order to perform osteopathic manipulative medicine (OMM).
