Celebrate. Taste. Play. V. Sattui
is the Must-Visit Winery of the Summer!
Manicured gardens dotted with oaks. Babbling fountain. Stone structures. Vineyards shimmering in the sun. No, this isn’t 19th-century Italy — though you’d be forgiven for mistaking it so — this is V. Sattui, an award-winning family winery. Off CA 29 in the heart of the Napa Valley, V. Sattui has been producing one of the largest selections of highly-awarded, small-batch, small lot wines and enjoyed by wine newcomers and aficionados alike for decades. With cool mornings, glorious afternoons and daylight now stretching well into the evening, V. Sattui Winery is welcoming visitors to its gorgeous, inviting St. Helena Estate for tastings and gatherings.
Visiting V. Sattui means experiencing wine in a beautiful, welcoming environment. As you arrive at this iconic Estate, enjoy a stroll by the vineyards en route to the main Estate via the concierge welcome center. Here the scene is lively and inviting; you’ll likely see couples snapping photos by the large stone fountain and families enjoying a picnic supplied on-site by the V. Sattui Artisan Deli & Marketplace or snacking on enticing cuisine dished up outside by their very own Food Truck, including BBQ and
made-to-order pizzas.
Surrounded by giant oak trees, flowers and vineyards, these shaded grounds are an ideal place to while away an afternoon with a new favorite wine you discovered at one of V. Sattui’s tasting venues. The multiple indoor and outdoor tasting experiences are designed to facilitate V. Sattui’s wide portfolio of wines in a manner that’s both fun and approachable. V. Sattui’s warm and gracious hosts guide you through a varied list of highly awarded wines while sharing the winery’s storied history that dates back to 1885. Tasting experiences cater to the wine expert and novice alike, with hosts who pride themselves on presenting an unpretentious and engaging adventure into the V. Sattui family’s world of wine. Experiencing the winery in person is the linchpin of V. Sattui’s winemaking model, as they are a direct-to-consumer winery; their wine is exclusively available on site, through their club or via their website.
The Estate’s outdoor tasting venues feature picturesque settings, from an outdoor grove overlooking Estate Vittorio’s Vineyard to a big top tent under the oaks to the members-only Cellar Courtyard. In spring and summer, the outdoor vineyard lounge tasting is the place to be, where guests sip top Estate wines paired with almonds, olives and charcuterie. V. Sattui’s latest outdoor tasting edition, the Bubble Bar on the Terrace, is a vibrant affair. Revelers bask in the sun-kissed beauty of the iconic stone terrace while taking in panoramic views of the vineyard, sipping through a prized selection of Méthode Champenoise sparkling wines and noshing on truffled popcorn or flavored nuts.

Indoor tasting experiences begin with the lively marketplace seated tastings. Enter through the big oak doors into the large tasting room adjacent to the bustling marketplace. Laughter and the clinking of stemware resound as V. Sattui hosts happily lead guests through a variety of tastings. In the more secluded Vittorio Room, luxurious Reserve Tower tastings feature V. Sattui’s most coveted single-vineyard and Reserve wines. Winery members enjoy private tastings and barrel sampling, hosted by V. Sattui’s cast of beloved wine educators in their own underground Cellar Club.
For all V. Sattui tasting experiences, reservations are strongly encouraged as space is limited.
V. Sattui is more than just a winery: visiting the Estate is also a culinary experience. V. Sattui boasts the only Michelin starred Italian chef, Stefano Masanti, who has been awarded a Michelin Star each of the past thirteen years for his restaurant, Il Cantinone, in Madesimo, Italy. Chef Masanti spends seven months of year at V. Sattui Winery, designing and preparing the ultimate gastronimical experience for V. Sattui’s weddings and catered events. Luck would have it that V. Sattui also features Executive Chef Fatima Hafiz, who delivers an array of artisanal delicacies and tried-and-true seasonal menu items prepared daily in the kitchens. V. Sattui’s Artisan Deli & Marketplace is renowned for using local, sustainable, seasonal ingredients to craft delectable house-made salads, sandwiches, panini, pastas and a medley of antipasti for every palate. On weekends, bring the kids and come hungry. Families dine on delicious BBQ on the Estate lawn provided by V. Sattui’s own food truck. Whether you’re pairing at an event or pairing at a picnic, dining at V. Sattui is part of the fun.
If you’re making a weekend of your visit to V. Two events not to be missed are Notte Italiana and Harvest Ball. On Friday, July 1st, “A Night in Italy” features Michelin starred Chef Masanti’s multi-course menu served al fresco under the stars on the sprawling vineyard lawn. Italian Tenor Pasquale Esposito revisits to serenade guests and inspire impromptu dancing around the tables. V. Sattui’s finest wines will flow freely throughout the evening. Then, Saturday, September 17th, Harvest Ball, the Napa Valley wine party you’ve always dreamed of attending, arrives. Join V. Sattui owner Dario Sattui for a spectacular soiree with world-class entertainment from Montreal’s Alter Ego, transcendent Michelin culinary delights for Chef Masanti and, of course, a selection of highly acclaimed wines will be yours to indulge in as you revel in the sights, sounds and flavors of the biggest party of the year! Tickets for both events are available now.
The reasons to visit the V. Sattui Estate are like the wines themselves — all great! V. Sattui has over 70 different small-lot wines with a 90+ rating, plus countless awards, including being named 2022 “Domestic Winery of the Year” after earning a remarkable 29 medals at the 40th annual San Diego International Wine & Spirits Challenge. Initially, guests visit V. Sattui Winery to experience the highly awarded wines sold only at the winery, but the guests keep returning, nearly 500,000 of them a year, because of the V. Sattui community, where guests
feel like family.
Familial vibes are ingrained in the winery’s identity. Owner Dario Sattui is the great-grandson of founder Vittorio Sattui, who emigrated to San Francisco from a tiny town outside Genoa, Italy, in 1885. When Prohibition forced V. Sattui’s closure, Vittorio retired. The winery lay dormant until the 1970s, when Dario returned from a Europe experience determined to reopen the family business. Choosing the idyllic valley in the St. Helena AVA, Dario resurrected what would be become a world-famous Napa Valley destination known for its monster cabs, zesty zins, elegant chardonnays, as well as a wide range varietals and blends.
These close familial bonds are what unite the winemakers, consultants and sales teams of the V. Sattui family. Its obvious gravity pulls visitors into its orbit, enticing them with laughter, congeniality and warmth.
“Profit was never my primary goal,” says Dario in a recent video celebrating his 80th birthday (see full video below). “The goal of V. Sattui was always to reestablish my family’s winery and to bring pleasure to people.”
This summer, become part of the V. Sattui family. All are welcome to enjoy the pleasure of tasting at the V. Sattui Winery, from families to couples to friends, and everyone in between. You’ll come for the fun, the education, the connection, and of course, the wine. But you’ll keep coming back for the family.

Bird's eye view of V. Sattui
V. Sattui Winery has that something extra, that joie de vivre, that makes people return time and again. It’s why so many couples choose to host their wedding at V. Sattui — one of the few wineries allowed to hold nuptials in Napa — and why so many multi-generational memories are made here. Guests plan yearly trips, like a pilgrimage, to the Estate to see old friends they’ve made and taste what’s new. The welcoming vibe and incredible wine attract wine lovers of all kinds, from novice to connoisseur, ages 21 to infinity. Once you visit, you’re nearly guaranteed to return.
The Sattui family’s commitment to their community extends beyond their vineyards. Dario Sattui is involved in multiple charities, supporting the "bookends" of a person's life: childhood, education and senior citizens/hospice.
“As a historic, family-owned business, caring for the environment, the community, and the next generation is both a privilege and a responsibility,” says Dario. “We are stewards of the Napa Valley environment through our sustainable farming practices and conservation efforts, and we foster education and support of local winemaking and youth communities through several on-estate and local programs.”
When the winery closed for the pandemic, V. Sattui kept some of its employees employed by having them package food for Meals on Wheels and donate V. Sattui boxed lunches to local testing sites. All this is a reflection of Dario’s philosophy when he started the winery almost
fifty years ago.
