Journey Homes
Ken and Bonnie Wickens founded Journey Homes more than 40-years ago with the hope their children would build on the legacy of well-crafted construction that complements the surrounding countryside and provides comfort for homeowners who wish to live in a modern interior to house their own journeys. The second-generation company recently expanded to the San Antonio area, creating a Modern Hill Country home that reflects this emphasis on family, friends, and life's evolution. With over 3,300-square feet of living space, this home embraces its oak-filled surroundings with ample indoor and outdoor rooms for entertaining or a quiet night of family time.
The first in Journey Homes's new estate portfolio, the Sendero unfurls easily the moment one steps through the 9-foot iron pivot front door. Combining Oklahoma stone and cedar finishes throughout the 3-bedroom property, the open-flow floorplan moves seamlessly from the chef’s kitchen into the great room and beyond to a terrace that features a built-in grilling station, outdoor seating, and a fireplace to warm the ambiance and those gathered alike. Whether seated outside, in the great room, or on the kitchen island, you’re just steps from the wine grotto and butler’s pantry, a home entertainer’s dream. In addition to a game room replete with a bar, you'll also find a separate study perfectly located for a quiet read, board game, or watching the Longhorns on a Saturday afternoon.
Evolutionary Homes
As a former custom home project manager, Evolutionary Homes founder Nathan Murphey understands every component of the luxury home build, from working with contractors, managing budgets to repeatedly meeting the exact expectations of a discerning client. Long considered among the premier builders in greater San Antonio, Nathan has joined with partners Ryan Murphey and Deron Stadler to craft a Santa Barbara Modern design that nods to Old Spanish Colonial while keeping with the breezy floorplan that defines the Santa Barbara aesthetic. Upon entry, we pass over the uniquely painted tile floor that conveys us in the great room beneath a spectacular floating ceiling that encompasses a grand fireplace and full kitchen.
Suggesting a Hollywood-style bungalow of yesteryear, the outdoor living area is oversized to include a pool and spa, ideal for entertaining, a refresh during the day, and quiet romantic evenings under the stars. The relaxed lightness of being is captured throughout the home, including the custom-designed front door, crisp stucco, and unique tiling that defines is set in multiple angles on the signature fireplace. The game room carries its own character forward, yet another opportunity for the Evolutionary Homes team to demonstrate the appeal of a customized home constructed with fabulous detail.
Design Tech Homes
Former Better Home Show co-host Mike Feigin learned his trade running the Houston division of one of our country’s most successful homebuilding companies. Together with his wife Barbara and children Matthew and Rachel, Design Tech Homes was founded to create custom well-built homes that incorporate the impressive experience and outstanding client services. As a radio personality and builder who has "seen and heard it all" in terms of home design and construction, Mike's Parade of Homes selection pulls key elements from Mid-century Modern, Urban Industrial, Modern Farmhouse styles to craft a design that is both reminiscent of the rustic aesthetic while looking squarely toward the future elements of the contemporary home.
The 20-foot foyer yawns into the family room and open kitchen, an aesthetic that immediately sets the design apart and is ideal for entertaining. The breakfast nook melds seamlessly with a custom wine wall. Like the kitchen space, excellent for Sunday pancakes or a Saturday dinner party, the study can host an evening homework session or convert into an informal wine tasting environment. Customization is on full display in every room of this 3,000-square foot, four-bedroom home. Even the powder room features a floating trough sink. A walk-in rain shower awaits in the master bedroom, as does a free-standing tub. The outdoor living space showcases a fireplace beyond a sliding glass wall that draws the outside directly into the grand living area.
Bourn Custom Homes
Gary and Jillian Bourn began envisioning custom home design and construction when they were just 16 years old. Their belief that a home fosters a loving family led them to found a company that specializes in a Design+Build format to create an environment that combines comfort and conviviality for select clients. Their 4,413-square foot Traditional Farmhouse captures this philosophy perfectly, a décor hewn from organic materials to create an ambiance of outstanding trim work and hand-hewn beams. Intentionally imperfect in reflection of a sturdy 19th-century build, the Bourns' farmhouse tells the story of how the foundation of traditional design and to build never goes out of style for those who appreciate craftsmanship and what home represents for the modern family.
As it has for centuries, the nurturing home revolves around the kitchen, in this case, a full chef's kitchen and additional baker's kitchen that separates the main living space from a cottage house that features another independent kitchen. The cottage house, replete with its own living quarters, invites a multigenerational living environment, extended visits from the kids or friends. The main house continues the “home is where the hearth is” theme, in this case, an outdoor fire feature that accents an infinity pool with a swim-up bar, a rim-flow spa, outdoor kitchen, and covered cabana. A billiard and media room, as well as a weight room, adds additional recreation and comfort to this exceptional 4-bedroom home.
Brian Box founded Ashton-Companies in 2001 to build custom homes in the Greater San Antonio area. Jimmy Sikkink and Jeff Jerman joined Ashton in 2020 to expand the project portfolio. The Sensible Industrial design of their signature home displays their collective skills the moment we enter the grand iron doors and step into the great room and adjacent kitchen. The chef’s kitchen, as ideal for entertaining as for prepping a weeknight family meal, combines a farmhouse sink with stainless steel appliances. The great room furthers the conversation, wood beams, barn doors, and a fireplace tiled with black petrified wood.
Outside, the covered patio area includes two seating areas accessed from 16-foot wide sliding doors and beyond, a crisply-carved pool edge, yet another indication one can live comfortably in a home that also looks cool when constructed by seasoned builders. The master wing also speaks to this aesthetic, an elegant freestanding tub surrounded by loose pebbles, navy cabinetry with brass fixtures. Bold tiles express themselves in the auxiliary bathrooms in the 2,817-square foot, four-bedroom home. Sensible Industrial design has a home in this property.
Ashton-Companies
After he established an award-winning real estate enterprise, Adam Smith incorporated his extensive knowledge in home design and construction into his new company, Everview Homes. Ten years later, buyers can locate these distinctive semi-custom and custom homes across greater San Antonio. His 4,675-square foot, a 3-bedroom new build for Parade of Homes draws on a deep understanding of what the San Antonio homeowner looks for in a luxury residence.
Living flows naturally from the entry to the expansive outdoor living environment where a summer kitchen and pool make outdoor entertainment a breeze, as does the interior given the great room wet bar, butler's pantry, formal dining room, and wine room. Smith and his designer clearly understand that the modern home must multitask as entertainment venue and intimate family setting. The master bedroom features a separate sitting area with a coffee bar for those mornings that call for a gentle rollout. The fireplace and breakfast nook are also designed with quiet times in mind.

Mike Robare built his business to reflect his love of family, the idea that every home should provide a cradle for a family’s growth and nourishment. His 4,000-square foot Contemporary Organic Industrial home provides four bedrooms for a growing family, a chef’s kitchen ideal for daily meals and entertaining, accented by a double waterfall island. Entertainers will love showcasing their 300-bottle wine and whisky closet, adjacent to the dining room where family meals and dinner parties unfurl with equal aplomb.
Private time enjoys equal attention here, whether sitting before the master suite’s see-through fireplace that links the bedroom and spa-style bath, or in the study completing homework or watching the game. Speaking of games, the vast game room includes room for every recreational interest and its own beverage center, ideal for a casual Saturday night. At 700-square feet, the deck can hold a graduation party or quiet evening beneath the stars and surrounding signature oaks.
Robare Custom Homes
After careers building estate homes in Mexico, Eleazar Rojas Ferrant and Armando Lopez established Rockpointe Custom Homes to provide this same craftsmanship and design detail for the San Antonio luxury home market. The company's 3,685-square foot, 4-bedroom Contemporary Farmhouse style home combines a spacious and open floorplan with comfort details and functionality. The cathedral ceiling soars above the entry foyer and adjoining the great room and chef's kitchen.
The gazebo garden and private patio, replete with an outdoor kitchen, are ideal for a Saturday night party or a Sunday brunch. The master suite invites quiet time, given the spacious master bath and adjoining private garden. Lighting the fireplace and settling into the intimate study provides yet another opportunity to let the day’s stress disappear. The practical functions of the day receive equal attention, be it in the convenient utility room or in the modern workstation built seamlessly into the living space.
Rockpointe Custom Homes
With active families of their own, Mike Reid and Steven Jones design homes that provide all the benefits of a family-focused living space with the potential to entertain friends and family. Their 4-bedroom Craftsman-style home showcases the exposed wood beams, wrought-iron accents, and Hill Country aesthetic for which the design is known. A 16-foot double-sided fireplace greets visitors as they enter the home, as do custom built-ins and, perhaps, a piano in a custom location. The great room combines with a kitchen and dining area to reveal an open floorplan perfect for busy family days and entertaining friends.
The home’s functionality follows custom herringbone-laid brickwork to the mudroom, pantry and laundry room. The master suite and den occupy a quieter wing of the home, while the children and guest wing presents three bedrooms and two bathrooms. Six sets of French Doors open to the bucolic outside setting, whether you prefer to sit in the covered patio off the owner’s suite or enjoy the main outdoor entertainment area. The billiards/media room will no doubt be a favorite gathering place as well.
